I was reading an article on PR-Inside that said that our favorite grumpy TV doctor, Hugh Laurie, hates having his photos taken by paparazzi. Why? Well it seems that he feels that each photo that’s taken steals a little bit of his soul.
We know that Laurie has been struggling lately with the fact that he’s stuck in L.A. filming his hit show while his wife and children continue to live in England. He misses his family and I would image that being apart for long stretches would stress even the best of marriages.
Now, we are also learning that along with the personal stress that his growing fame has put on his marriage and personal life, he also hates the idea of other people poring over images of him.
Aw Hugh, we do that because you are such a talented actor. It also doesn’t hurt that you are ruggedly good looking.
Laurie explains “I have this weird superstition about the camera stealing part of your soul… If the photographer has something, you must have lost something. The idea that any image of you will be looked at and distributed and pored over and commented on is depressing. You feel intruded upon.”
Well that does make sense. I know some people don’t care if their picture is taken or what happens with the photo after it’s been taken, but I’m one of those people that really doesn’t care to have my picture taken either. Funny isn’t it that I used to do extra work in films and commercials and acted on stage, yet I too hate my photo being taken?
Unfortunately for Hugh, with fame comes camera shots and tons of images. Out of courtesy to Mr. Laurie I will not post an image of him in this article.
