Contest Change…

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I made a little mistake when I laid out the contest rules the other day.

The banner does not have to say Watching House.com - just Watching House.

I’ve seen some great banners so far! Way more creative than I could’ve been! Keep it up!

ATTENTION: CONTEST IMMINENT

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Alright House fans I need your help.

We here at 451 Press now have the ability to have banners on our site - yay! What I would like YOU to do is to design a banner for watchinghouse.com!

Here are the rules:

1. It has to be 729 x 90 pixels and can be no bigger than 50 kilobytes.

2. It has to say Watching House.com somewhere on it.

3. Any photos can be used that will not get me sued. (Meaning if it’s watermarked or from a copywrited website, don’t use it)

4. It can have a catchy catch phrase. Toy Bender has a great one, just to give you an idea.

5. It has to look AWESOME.

That’s it! Send your submissions to scootersbabygirl at gmail dot com. The contest will be open for submission until this Friday, June 22. I will pick the top 5 (or more depending on how many submissions I get) and put them on the blog on the following Monday. The fans will then have 1 week to decide which header they like the best.

Winner gets: (drum roll please) a case full of Vicodin!

Oh - wait - damn, that’d get me arrested. Okay, we’ll try again.

Winner gets: A $10 Amazon Gift Card (or $10.00 deposited into a PayPal acct - your choice!)

I’m looking foward to seeing how awesome these banners are, because no one’s more outspoken or awesome than a true House fan!

Tons of people have been coming to the site looking for photos of Jennifer Morrison naked. I have a few of her “scantily clad”, but none of her naked (sorry fella’s).

No More Poker For Hugh

Friday, June 15th, 2007
hughhottiesitting.jpg

Hugh says that it takes so much time and energy to prepare for filming House that he’s had to give up his late-night poker games.

“I make mistakes playing when I’m tired and then go to bed cursing myself. The good poker players are the ones that outlast everyone but I’ve had to give up because I wilt at the end of the day. Playing this part does actually involve more than just reading the lines out. It involves knowing how your character will move and how he will hold his coffee cup.”

Aww Hugh - thanks for the sacrifice! We fans really do appreciate it!

Just House It T’s!

Thursday, June 14th, 2007
justhouseit.jpg

Almost a month ago I traveled to Mass to spend the weekend. My best friend (the one who turned me on to House) was there and we got to hang out.

I told her how she sits on the fence when making decisions, and that I thought she should make up her mind and jump either way.

“Just House It!” I said.

That became the motto of the day, and I am now trying to make it the motto of my life.

Just House It means to make your decision and stick with it - no regrets. House doesn’t flip/flop when he tells his staff to do something, he says “do it” - if it’s wrong, he fixes it later.

I told my best friend that I would be creating some Tshirts over at CafePress, so I did. I decided to put them up available for anyone to buy. I am not taking any profit off of this - the prices are set by CafePress. I only ask that, if you purchase one, you take a photo of you with it on so we can all see! When mine comes in, I’ll definitely take a photo for you all…if you want to see my fat butt LOL.

You can purchase either a v-neck or a round neck tee here

Friday Night Lights VS House

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

We got ourselves a little debate going on here people! Mary, who is a House fan, made a comment on the last post that she didn’t think House was in the same league as Friday Night Lights.

I would NEVER tell somebody that I thought a show that they loved was stupid - I can only give my opinion, just as you can give yours! Here’s Mary’s opinion:

House uses the same formula every week. I mean really, it does get old.

FNL doesn’t have a formula. It’s beautifully shot and has fantastic acting. It’s hard to explain if you’ve never watched it. The characters are so real and their problems are ones everyone can relate to. It celebrates the small moments in life that other shows ignore.

Now - objectively - I can see where Mary believes that House uses the “same formula” every week. In a nutshell, House has a patient with a medical problem that he has to diagnose. Usually the patient will die in a matter of hours/days if he doesn’t figure out what’s going on. The thing that a lot of critics do not get is that the undiagnosed patient is only 1/4 to 1/2 of the story. The rest centers on characters, character developments and real life situations that these esteemed professionals find themselves in. And comedy - lots of comedy.

I have not seen Friday Night Lights, so I can not comment on it. What I can do, though, is set my DVR to record it so that I can watch an episode and be objective. I never dismiss something out of hand before actually trying/seeing it. I can say now, though, that so far I have had no interest in watching Friday Night Lights and do not see how a story about a football obsessed town would be interesting to me - but then again, I didn’t give two hoots about House, either, until I was provoked into watching it.

Are there those that watch both House and Friday Night Lights here? What’s your take on this discussion?

Hugh Nominated For ANOTHER Award

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

I think I need to give up and give Judy my job! She keeps finding these great articles before I do!

Hugh has been nominated by the Television Critics Association for individual achievement in a drama series. Here is the competition:

INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN DRAMA

Connie Britton (”Friday Night Lights”)
Kyle Chandler (”Friday Night Lights”)
Michael C. Hall (”Dexter”)
Hugh Laurie (”House”)
Helen Mirren (”Prime Suspect”)

So why wasn’t House nominated for best show? Which shows were? They must have been really good if they were noiminated and now House, right? Let’s take a look…

PROGRAM OF THE YEAR

“American Idol” (Fox)

AMERICAN IDOL?! You shoved out HOUSE for AMERICAN FRIGGIN’ IDOL?! Can you tell I’m not a fan of idiocy?

“Friday Night Lights” (NBC)

Again - WTF? I have to admit that I have never watched this show and have absolutely NO interest in seeing it. And trust me - I enjoy TV.

“Heroes” (NBC)

Okay, now Heroes I DID watch and DID enjoy. Yes, I do believe that it deserves to be nominated for program of the year - not only because of its great characters and story line, but because it is something very different than anything else on TV.

“Planet Earth” (Discovery)

Planet Earth? Sorry - never heard of it - and I watch the Discovery channel and TLC all the time.

“The Wire” (HBO)

I don’t get HBO, so I’ve never heard of this one - but there’s a REASON I don’t subscribe to HBO - most of it’s repeat movies and crap! So I can probably safely assume that this follows trend.

“When the Levees Broke” (HBO)

There’s a whole program about when the levees broke? Seriously?! Dude.

So why was House not put on the list for best program of the year? Because critics are idiots and have NO idea what viewers enjoy watching. The.End.

Do you think that those shows deserve to be nominated for best TV program?

David Shore Chat

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007
houseshadows.jpg

Judy - the ever web-wandering House lover - found a great site! It’s a chat that happened between David Shore and fans of House on May 24. Here are a few highlights:

Guest (May 24, 2007 4:17:08 PM) Where did the idea for House’s latest cane, the black one with the flames on it, come from?

David Shore (May 24, 2007 4:17:08 PM) Every now and again Hugh will ask for a new cane and he liked the red paint flame look and the props department got busy. He got into designing his own canes!

I have to admit - that got me! Imagine - Hugh Laurie designs some of his own canes!

Guest (May 24, 2007 4:37:24 PM) Mr Shore, I had heard that when Hugh Laurie auditioned for the part of Greg House, not only had the casters not heard of him before, they did not know he was English. Is that true? I ask because I am married to a Brit girl and have been acquainted with his work for years.

David Shore (May 24, 2007 4:37:24 PM) It is true that Brian Singer, the director, didn’t know who he was and didn’t know that he was English and went a step further to insist that that would not cast a foreigner because of logistics. But Brian watched the tape and was convinced Hugh was American. I knew that Hugh was great and English - a shock to Brian!

See, now that doesn’t surprise me - a casting director being shocked that an actor can actually ACT…amazing…

beanzy (May 24, 2007 4:43:24 PM) How did you come up with the idea for House? Is it based on someone you knew?

David Shore (May 24, 2007 4:43:24 PM) It’s not based on any one specific person but the House character was brewing for a while and I particularly liked the idea of a doctor who says the things they would only say once you’ve left the room to your face.

The proverbial fly on the wall! Brilliance! To see the entire chat log, click here.

Thanks again Judy!

If anyone finds something that they think would interest other House fans, please feel free to send it right to me!

Funny Hugh

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

A reporter for The Hollywood Report asked Hugh a question - and he answered - in his usual glib fashion.

THR: Where do you keep your Golden Globe trophy? Does it make an effective bookend?

Laurie: Forgive me for being pedantic here, but I actually now have two — so your bookend idea works even better. Particularly since they weigh more than any earthly substance could in that volume. They are now installed in my son’s bedroom, which I have converted into a Hall of Fame. He sleeps in the garden

GOD I love Hugh Laurie!

Yeah - Right

Friday, June 1st, 2007

I just checked my stats to see what searches are bringing people here.

8 people came here looking for “dr. house cancelled”.

Yeah - in your dreams.

On another note, don’t think I’m giong to disappear just because its summer. The cast and crew will be visable, I’m sure, and I’ll be doing my best to catch them wherever they may be. If you’ve got a scoop PLEASE pass it on for the rest of us to enjoy (Like Judy, my little wandering House lover!)

ALSO - coming in the fall, once House has started back up again, you will have TWO writers working on this blog - myself and a “special guest” - let’s just say that this guest is almost more obsessed with House than I am…ALMOST….

It should be interesting seeing our different points of view on the show and everything behind it!

If you’re taking a leave from the internet for the summer then please accept my consolation….

Kidding! Have a great summer and don’t forget to keep popping by for all the best news and updates on House and the crew! Thanks for watching!
