What’s The Problem with “13″?

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

WildeDiscussion.jpgAlright, I’ve got something that we need to discuss - seriously. What’s wrong with 13? I’m a member of a number of House boards, and I cruise the net way more hours than I should looking for information for this site. Everywhere I turn there are more people that hate 13 than there are people that like her - what’s up with that?! When the new season started, I really, really liked her! I loved how she gave it right back to House but how she seemed sweeter than Cameron had been. For some reason, Cameron had really rubbed me the wrong way.

Now, however, as the episodes are going on (finally!), I find that I’m not quite sure how I feel about 13. The last episode on Tuesday night I actually…didn’t…like…her! Seriously! I was actually smiling when I saw Cameron at the end of the episode and sort of missed her! I know - it’s sick and disturbing, but that’s the truth! I know that when the season started the feelings for 13 were split half and half. The half that didn’t like her were mostly Cameron fans, and the half that did like her were excited and hoping to see her in a love situation with someone.

I’m going to go out on a huge limb here and say that most House fans have issues with the female characters. With the one exception to the rule being Cuddy. Most fans feel that Cuddy can do no wrong and want to see her in more scenes. Why are we so tough on the young females on the show? From the feedback I’m getting, most people liked the clinic patient last episode more than they liked 13, which, I think, shows that there’s something a bit wrong with the way they’re portraying the female doctors…or am I totally insane? Shouldn’t we at least partially like the female ducklings? I think more people like Taub than they do 13! It seems that Foreman is the only male doctor that no one likes, but when it comes to the girls, they get eviscerated. Should we have another female character aside from Cuddy that we like, or are the feelings we have for the current female ducklings (old and present) a good mix for the show?

Who’s That Actress?

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

A couple of people have contacted me wondering who the actress was that played the possible hooker in the clinic on last night’s episode. I find it interesting that the House fans care more about her character than they do the “real” patient this episode! It took a little digging, but I finally figured out who the patient, named Melanie, was.

jennifer-hall.jpg

Meet Jennifer Hall! Did she look familiar yesterday? She did to both my husband and I, but we couldn’t figure out where we recognized her from. She’s played a waitress on the movie version of Bewitched, she was on two episodes of CSI: Miami, an episode of Criminal Minds, and a few other things…WE recognized her, however, from playing the character of Monica on three episodes of Nip/Tuck!!

(to note, I haven’t been watching Nip/Tuck this time around because I didn’t care for the first few episodes, but I wanted it from the start of the show before this season)

I think that all of the House fans last night loved Jennifer Hall’s character…and I know that I wish she would pop back up again on the show!

A Wonderful Lie Recap

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The show starts with a girl rock climbing. Her mother is spotting her. She starts to fall and her mom starts to help her back to the ground when suddenly her hand stops working. The girl falls to the ground and thinks her arm is broken and the mother has no idea what happened.

And we’re at PP with the new ducklings trying to diagnose the mother, who is getting worse. House took down all of the decorations that Kutner put up. The two talk about the mother having breast cancer but having a double mastectomy 10 months ago, but that she didn’t have reconstructive surgery. House wants her checked for cancer that wasn’t destroyed by the mastectomy.

House: MRI what’s left of her chest – set the machine to scan for irony.

House starts sucking on a lollipop with the patient and is “redoing the patient history. The girl knows everything about her mother, including her sexual positions. House complains to Wilson and tells him that it’s child abuse.

House: There’s a reason everybody lies. It works.

A minute later…

House: Lies are like children – hard work, but worth it, because the future depends on them.
Wilson: When you care about someone…
House: You lie to them!

Wilson dismisses breast cancer in the patient and House starts talking to his team about the mother being a slut.

House: She jumps anything with a pole and a pulse.

In order to avoid any spoilers for the people in other time zones, the rest of the recap is underneath the more sign!

House on the Cover of TV Guide

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

There’s a new TV Guide with House and the girls on it! Check it out:

housetvguide.jpg

I officially LOVE this photo! Okay, I know that most of you don’t care for 13, but hey, it’s a great shot of all of them! Thanks to a wonderful House fan, I’ve also got the rest of the interview as well! I’d try to type it out, but the last time I did that I got a slap on the wrist from TV Guide (sorry again TV Guide!). I’m putting these into thumbnails because there are a few spoiler-y type things that are said, but just click on them to make them large enough to read the entire story (and it’s a good one!!)

tvguide1.jpgtvguide2.jpgtvguide3.jpgtvguide4.jpg

And don’t forget (as if you could) - NEW EPISODE TONIGHT! I’m buried in work but hopefully I’ll be able to watch the show and write a recap late this evening.

Of course, I’ll be up until 2 in the morning, but it’s SO worth it!!

Laura Silverman Interview

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The wonderful, beautiful, very VERY pretty Laura Silverman granted me the intervew I’ve been wishing for! She took the time to give some awesome answers to the questions both the readers and I had about her acting, the show, and other things! I was just as excited for this as my friend Lynn was to get an interview with Thirteen the other day! Check it out!!

change-5.jpg

Chrissy would like to know how you got the job on House - if you auditioned or if they contacted you.

No, I definitely had to audition… though I’m flattered by the question… I’m really not enough of a ‘name’ to just get an offer for something like this, not to mention that you’d be shocked to see the number of extremely successful and well-known actors that I see at auditions all the time… I’m glad I auditioned, though, because I really do care about whether or not I am the best actress for the job, so being cast from an audition reassures me of that somewhat… This was actually my third time auditioning for House, and while I was sorely disappointed the first two times, I was glad that this was the one I booked, as it was a much richer role than the first two..

Cynthia would like to know how long it takes to film an episode and if there were any funny moments you were in that you could reveal to the readers.

Typically they schedule eight days per episode, but often go over… I think this episode was shot in nine days, of which I think I worked five. The whole thing was a lot of fun, there’s a lot of joking around, everyone is pretty funny, but there aren’t really any stories I can tell without giving anything away… I guess one thing I could say is that I was so nervous at first to work with Hugh Laurie, but luckily for me, in the first scene I had with him all I had to do was hyperventilate and pass out, over and over again, which was perfect, because that’s exactly how I felt! He was very kind, too, he was concerned about how woozy I was getting (because as it turns out, there’s really no way to ‘act’ hyperventilating without actually hyperventilating) and he had them bring me a paper bag to breathe into between takes. The ’sick’ make-up is also a little tough on the vanity at first, I kept joking with the make up artist, saying, ‘come on, is a little blush and mascara really going to ruin everything?!?’ I didn’t really mind, though, I generally embrace not having the pressure of having to be ‘pretty enough’, it can be a real distraction from what you’re trying to do… Actually, the sicker they made me look, the more I liked it, it was fun because I’m very interested in special effects make up. It’s probably what I’d be doing if I wasn’t an actress.

Olivia Wilde at SAG

Monday, January 28th, 2008

sagwilde1.jpg

Well, Olivia Wilde was the only House star that I could find at the SAG awards! I’m really shocked, actually, I thought Lisa Edelstein would be there for sure, especially since she’s been such a huge supporter of the SAG during their strike. I’m still kind of bummed that House lost…I mean, the show doesn’t need any awards for me to know how awesome it is, but to lose to Sopranos, which hasn’t had a new episode in how long? Just seems odd.

Olivia looks…eh…okay, I guess. I usually like her a lot better in her finery, but for some reason she looks a bit haughty in these photos…not sure why. Is it just me? How do you think she looked?

House Loses AGAIN!

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I’m watching the SAG awards and Hugh lost lead male actor in a drama series to James Gandolfini for Sopranos…dammit.

*sigh* Not a good award season for Hugh and the crew so far…

Interview with Another House Co-Star

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Liana Liberato_1.jpgOkay, so this interview wasn’t with me, but it was with the Galveston County Daily News. Little Liana Liberato will be the daughter of the patient on Tuesday’s episode of House.

“My character falls down because her mom lets the rope slide through her hands, she said. “I actually only fell part of the way, about four feet, then they caught me. After that, I had a stunt double. They put a wig on her. They told me I wasn’t really trained to do that kind of thing.

Liana’s mother has some sort of a seizure and lets go of the rope, then House has to spend some quality time trying to figure out what’s going on with the mother.

We all wonder what Hugh’s like on set, and Liana has given us a little peek:

“In one scene when he was talking to me, he came out wearing a clown nose. It was so hard not to laugh. He is so serious, and then he came out wearing that clown nose. He is hilarious in real life.

To see the rest of the interview, head on over to the Galveston County Daily News!

Knocked Down

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I’d say that I need some attention from Dr. House, but I think I just got a massive cold. This stupid cold has given me a massive sore throat - my weakness. I think that everyone has one specific thing about being sick that they can’t handle, and with me, it’s a sore throat. I had my tonsils taken out when I was 21, and I’ve always been a wuss when it comes to a sore throat. Tomorrow we’re painting our son’s bedroom (red AND blue…this’ll be interesting), so I’m trying to get better so that I can get it done. No House news right now, but I promise I’ll be back with anything new on Sunday!

ledger.jpg
RIP Heath

I’m sorry…I don’t know how much I will be posting today. It seems as though the whole world is alternaterly mourning and wondering about the death of Heath Ledger. I find myself searching online sites trying to discover what happened - was he depresssed? Were there signs?

so far I’ve learned that Heath did have a substance abuse problem, but that he’d been clean for a year. TMZ is saying that he had pneumonia, and some other sites are saying that he had a hard time sleeping quite often…his mind would be racing and he would have to take a couple of Ambien to sleep. One of the reporters on MSNBC last night said that he had spent a lot of time with Heath a few years ago and that he seemed agitated quite often…tapping his pen and doodling hard on a piece of paper.

I feel so bad for his beautiful little daughter, and for her mother, because being seperated does not mean that you still don’t love one another.

Heath was an amazing actor and I am so sad that he is no longer with us. It gave me even more of a shock when I realized that he was born in 1979 - the same year I was born in.

So I’m sorry - House news will be back later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. If you would like to share your thoughts/feelings/opinions about Heath’s death, please do so in the comments. Remember: they may not pop up immediately, but I will post them the moment I see them in the spam folder (the internet gurus are still working on the issue….sorry!)

Photos from ‘Don’t Ever Change’

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

change-5.jpg

Finally, some photos!! These are photos from the *gasp* LAST episode of Season 4, entitled Don’t Ever Change - it will air on February 5th. What I wouldn’t give to be Laura Silverman in that pic above! WOW! And from what I’ve been researching, Jewish women of the faith that this character has moved to aren’t allowed to have other men touching them (or so I think - please correct me if I’m wrong)…wonder how Hugh convinces the hubby that he needs to touch her! So what do you think of these new photos?! Remember to click to biggify - they’re pretty big!

Hugh Looking…Down?

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Some photos just surfaced of Hugh talking a walk with Jo in London. Reportedly, Jo and Hugh took their dog to Hampstead Heath for a little jaunt (I’m trying to sound British, here). The article that these photos come from remark that Hugh is looking very upset. Take a look…

hugh-london1.jpg

hugh-london2.jpg

So is Hugh really mad? Who knows…my guess would be that he is either unhappy about the weather or unhappy that he’s being photographed. I’d guess that everything’s fine between the two of them, however, as Jo seems really happy in the first photo and is holding his arm in the second.

And I LOVE Hugh’s jacket, don’t you?

The Surprise of the Day

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Have I ever mentioned how I’ve been trying to get an interview with someone who has been on House. There are tons of actors and actresses who have worked with the great doctors, but so far I’ve had NO luck. I’m just one of those people who scratches a scratch ticket and knows that she’s not going to win. Some people have good luck, others don’t.

Apparently I must have touched someone who had a lot of luck lately and it rubbed off.

Laura Silverman - the Laura Silverman who will be seen on screen with Hugh and the rest of the staff on February 5th, found US! She left a message on the last article saying that she was glad to know when the episode will be airing and that she loved the picture (it is a good picture).

I e-mailed her back and she’s granting us an interview! So if anyone has any questions that they’d like me to ask Laura, leave a comment here and I’ll be sure to relay the best ones on!

Another House Episode!

Friday, January 18th, 2008

I was wrong! According to the Futon Critic, there’s another House episode coming on February 5! Here’s the synopsis of “Don’t Ever Change”

HOUSE TREATS A NEWLY-CONVERTED HASIDIC JEWISH WOMAN AFTER SHE COLLAPSES AT HER OWN WEDDING ON “HOUSE” TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, ON FOX

House and the team encounter a woman admitted to Princeton-Plainsboro after she collapsed at her wedding. Her test results come up negative for a variety of common diseases, which leads the team to suspect foul play. When they discover the woman had been a music producer living in the fast lane until she converted to Hasidic Judaism, House insists that people do not change so easily, and that her seemingly rash decision may have something to do with an underlying condition. The woman’s husband insists that House treat his wife for her illness, rather than for her past, but she continues to fall dangerously ill. The team must run through all possible diagnoses without disturbing her newly found religious beliefs before it is too late. Meanwhile, House is preoccupied by Wilson’s newly-outed relationship with a woman whose personality is remarkably similar to House’s.

Laura Silverman will be playing the wife - Laura is the big sister to famed comedienne Sarah Silverman.

Yay! Another House episode!!

Jennifer’s Finally Listening To Us!

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Alright Jennifer, I’m glad to know that finally you’re listening to all of your fans. THANK YOU!

Jennifer showed up at the Cloverfield premiere last night dressed…well…a hell of a lot better than she has been dressed lately! I LOVE the hair, I love the makeup, I love the smile, I love the necklace, and I can even stand the dress!

Did I mention that I actually like her hair for the first time since she’s dyed it? Or “undyed” it, depending on which version you believe.

It doesn’t show off her curves very well, but it’s hip, it’s classy, it’s YOUNG, and it’s a beautiful color.

What do you think, oh almighty Watching House fans?
