A Lot To Discuss About House

by

Well, we sure have a lot to discuss, don’t we? First I want to talk about the whole Thirteen/lesbian kissing scene thing. I, too, was surprised that it was allowed on at 8 pm - which leads me to believe that the time change wasn’t set up for 8 pm originally. But that is neither here nor there.

A lot of you have told me how much you disliked that scene, and how you dislike Thirteen in general. I can’t say as I disagree with you - I’m surprised to say that Thirteen makes me want Cameron back! I don’t have a problem with the whole lesbian thing because they did explain (sort of) why she’s going for women instead of guys, so it’s not just the writers trying to get a gratuitous sex scene in there. But I watch and wonder: will Thirteen’s life mean something? Which, I believe, is the point.

Next is the look on House’s face when he found out that Cuddy was adopting. Here it is:

Some of you have said you think House looks that way because he’s realizing that everyone’s moving on. I don’t think so - call me a romantic but I think it’s because HE wanted to be the one to be with Cuddy, and he knows that she’s not going to need him or want him around as much if she’s got a baby. Maybe he doesn’t want her sexually, but he does want her in his life, and he knows that it will change once a baby comes into the picture.

Finally some spoilers for next week’s episode - if you do NOT want to see spoilers, don’t click below!

As you can see from these photos, things aren’t looking good for the baby. Then again, I’ve been wrong before. Do you think Cuddy’s baby makes it?

Hello!, i love this page, I want to say my opinion about this post, I dont know why you dislike 13, I like 13, I like the story about 13 and her disease, I like who she is, she is getting through a lot of changes in his life because her disease, I prefer 13 instaed of cameeron, dont missunderstand, I like both, but they dont dislike me, at this moment of the story line y prefer 13 to the show, the reason, the misterious and the changes she is going to suffer…she is most interesting that cameron at this momento of the story line…dont you think?

Well, I do hope Cuddy’s baby is going to be alright, but I’m afraid there’s more angst to come than joy. As long as she lets House in to read her emotions and help her with the whole thing, I’ll be happy, though.

13 - can’t say I like her, but I do… understand her, on some strange level.

  3. Velimir Says:

    Thanks for the screen.

I don’t know what to say… I agree with you, but still everything is relative. It depends on the point of you…

About 13… I like her, and like you said “they did explain (sort of) why she’s going for women instead of guys”, so I don’t see a “problem with the whole lesbian thing”.

    I don’t want Cameron back, I’m OK with 13

  4. Martin Says:

When did they explain why she´s going for women instead of guys??? I miss that part, please explain me if you can..jaja sorry! Like I say, 13 its more interesting that Cameron at this point of the story line…

  5. Jaclyn Says:

The last 5 minutes of this episode were the best for me…thanks for posting that pic of House’s face btw, that moment was PRICELESS! I’m with you on the whole romantic outlook on it, I have always wanted him and Cuddy to get together! Anyways…I have just stumbled upon your Blog and I LOVE it, I’m adding you to my list of reads right now! Thanks for putting so much into this!

  6. Tim Says:

Olivia Wilde is in my eyes a attractive and great addition to the cast.

I like 13 very much. She is just awesome. She tries to keep her personal life hidden from others. In this way she is mysterious and very much intrigued. Her fatal disease und her struggle with it makes her a very sympathetic human being. The look in her eyes in the last scene touched my heart. This emptiness, sadness and lack of vitality made me cry.

  7. Ana Says:

    I don’t know what’s your problem with Thirteen, I don’t get it.
You said “A lot of you have told me how much you disliked that scene, and how you dislike Thirteen in general.”
Well, I can’t see any comment suggesting that.
Every where I look around I see people who really like Thirteen, and i’ve been reading all your posts and allways has to say something ugly of her, and I just don’t get it.

I like her very very much. I think her character is one of the best in the show. The mistery, the intigue, her disease, and of course her beauty, all of these make her completely indispensable.
To me her acting is very good, her faces, expretions… Everything.

And actually I can’t find anyone who say the opposite, besides you.

Please, if you’re not confortable with the bisexual/lesbian people, save it for your self. There’s no need to bring her down in every comment you post. I tell you this in the better way I can. I think that i’m not offended you in anyway.

So, if you read this comments, please, I beck you, don’t talk about her in a badly way. She’s not diserved that.

The 90% of the WORLD (i’m living in Spain), prefer Thirteen, instead Cameron.
Cameron is very good, but Thirteen is wayyy to much better, so, if you don’t agree, that’s right, but no need to make it public in such offended way.

    Thank you very much.

Hi everyone!! House is almost the best show ever!

  8. Martin Says:

I agree with Ana, 13 is wayyy to much better than Cameron, and Olivia Wilde is performing excellent!, I felt like Tim, the face of 13 at the end of last episode, the bunch of things that Wilde sent to us, the emptiness, the sadness, the lack of sense and value for her life, an actress that can sent all this feelings only with a face it´s an excellent actress!!!!

  9. Grace Says:

Ana, I don’t like 13, so now you have at least two people who don’t like her. We have a right to our opinion just like you do.
I think she is boring. That is my opinion.
I had to laugh when you said that 90 % of the world want 13 instead of Cameron. I think that number is a bit off.

  10. Luv Wilson Says:

I actually like 13’s character. She’s got some great lines and how she hardly reveals any part of her personal life unless she has to is very intriguing.
I’m not a fan of the whole lesbian bit, but it makes House get some funny bi comments.
Olivia Wilde has a part that isn’t often portayed– someone who knows they’re going to die. That’s such a difficult part to play, and I think she is doing an incredible job. The look on her face brought tears to my eyes as well, Tim, I think it was a very well-acted episode.

  11. Ming Says:

I agree with you on 13. I’m not a huge fan.

But moving onto House’s reaction to Cuddy getting a baby. I ABSOLUTELY agree with you!! Actually, Lisa Edelstein said that House felt like a baby would take Cuddy’s attention off of him, and he didn’t want that. He’s lonely ’cause he loves her! <3 <3 <3

  12. Sarah Says:

One question - WHY exactly does it have to be EXPLAINED why Thirteen goes after women?

She’s already been established as a bisexual, and bisexuals DO go after women occassionally!
Not because they want control or have a deadly disease, simply because they find women (and men) attractive.

When Thirteen remarks “I thought I was just into boobs”, she’s spot on, but the episode reduced the line to a joke by granting House the capacity to analyze another person’s sexual orientation, even though he (not counting Wilson) has no bisexual experience himself.

In my opinion, the main problem with Thirteen’s (pretty minor) lesbian storyline is that it HAS to be explained. As if it is another one of House’s puzzles, another diagnose.
But falling in love is not in itself pathological! And whether you fall for a man or a woman, the feelings are just the same and equally valid.

House, MD. manages to reduce the lesbian storyline to a SYMPTOM of Thirteen’s “selfdestructive, downward spiral” - thereby implying that falling for a woman (when you’re also a woman) is, at best, only about sex (and ratings), at worst selfdestructive and wrong. The only thing that will save Thirteen’s soul, the show says, is having her quit women and fall for a proper (Fore)man.

Not only does the show send an incorrect message about bisexuality, it also puts forward an incredibly homophobic statement.

Which, judging from all the comments above saying that “at least her behavior was explained”, most viewers seem to just eat up - and that’s even more worrying!
