Dave Matthews

Re-Cap Half Wit

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Season 3, aired Tues. March 6th, 9 p.m. - Half Wit co-staring Dave Matthews

This episode opens with a father and son dressed in formal wear preparing for a concert back stage. The father helps the son, Patrick, played by Dave Matthews, do up his buttons when he has difficulty. Once the buttons are done up and the son is dressed the father asks the son if he’s ready. The pair stand and walk out onto a stage where they are given a standing ovation.

The father introduces his son and thanks the audience for attending the concert. The concert is being held to benefit others with neurological and brain injury disorders. Apparently when Patrick was just 10 years old he was in an accident that left him boy like but with an amazing musical talent.

The father leads the son to the piano which is center stage and Patrick begins to play some lovely music on the piano for the audience. As the father watches from the side of the stage he notices that Patrick missed a couple of notes. He’s startled because Patrick apparently never misses any notes. The father can see that something must be wrong so he rushes onto the stage and asks Patrick what’s wrong. That’s when Patrick says his hand hurts and when his father asks to see his hand we see that his left hands fingers have all cramped up as if they are in spasm.

Dave Matthews to Guest Star on House

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

dave_matthews.JPG Dave Matthews, of the Dave Matthews Band has signed on to appear in a March episode of House. It should turn out to be an interesting episode as Matthews is going to play a musical savant. His character was hit by a bus when he was just 10 and the accident affected his mental development, but left his with the ability to play the piano flawlessly despite never having had a lesson.

Dr. House is brought into the picture after Matthews character begins suffering seizures. His characters father then must decide whether to cure the impairment and risk losing his sons musical gift.

House’s Executive producer, katie Jacobs makes her directorial debut with this episode.

Kurtwood Smith will also co-star in this episode. You might not recognize the name, but I’m sure you’ll know who he is when you see him. He played “Red”, the grouchy father on “That 70’s Show“.

This is the first time that Dave Matthews has taken on the role of actor. He’s been in the feature “Because of Winn-Dixie” and he’s also set to play a character in an independent family feature with Sissy Spacek and Troy Garity called “Lake City”.

Matthews music preceded him on the show. His track “Some Devil” appeared in a 2005 episode of House. The musician formed the Dave Matthews Band in 1990, The group has sold more than 35 million albums and 14 million concert tickets since they began.

The Dave Matthews Band is set to go on one of their many tours beginning in late March. I believe March 23 is the first tour date, and the band will tour right through to the end of May. I hope that Dave Matthews House episode airs before his bands tour begins so that he can be sure to catch the show.
