Big Celebrities at Fox Party!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Fox’s All Star Party at the Pier had some huge stars! All the Fox celebrities showed up, including Hugh, Omar, Olivia, and Kal! Absent were Jesse Spencer, Jennifer Morrison, and Lisa Edelstein (and RSL, who’s never at these parties).

Unfortunately this year I don’t see any pics of Hugh on bumper cars, but there is a cute one of the three new ducklings!

House in America

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

I got a desperate email from a reader this morning who was providing me with the news that Hugh has, apparently, purchased a house in the United States. She also asks that I refrain from posting images or the address of the property.

“I think Hugh deserves a bit of privacy, don’t you?” she asks.

Yes, I do. I will refrain from posting these photos, or from saying where you can see them. I wanted to write about him purchasing a house in the US, however, because I hope it means that he will no longer have a rocky relationship with his wife or kids. I am hoping that this means that Jo and the family will be moving over here, at least part of the year, so that they do not have to be separated as much as they usually are. Hugh and his family deserve not only privacy, but also the ability to be able to spend quality time together.

House’s Slot for Fall and Ratings for Finale

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Well, the House finale did well. How well? The season-finale of House at 16.16 million viewers and a 5.7/14 among adults 18-49. That is an amazing score.

House came in third, below American Idol (when will that show die?) and Grey’s Anatomy when it comes to the top DVR shows.

So what about fall? We’ve got TONS to talk about when it comes to next year, including some questions that people have. To begin with, House will be airing on Tuesday evenings at 8 pm.

Next we’ll get to a few questions. The first comes from Chiodo -

do you know which was the symptom that Gerg saw BEFORE the crash?? he can’t know kidney failure before the crash happened…which was the misterious sympthom??

I believe that the only “symptom” he saw was the pills, which wouldn’t have freaked him out, except for hte bus crash. My assumption is that his brain put together the bus crash and the pills and he knew that Amber was going to be in trouble.

Elvis Orlando FL asks -
I dont understand y wilson is mad at house . they wert having and afair House cant be resposible for the bus axident?

There are many theories about whether Wilson will stay mad at house, but one thing is fairly positive - Wilson is upset at House because he believes that if Amber wouldn’t have rushed out to give House a ride, she wouldn’t be dead.

And finally for today, we’ve got Allie, who noticed a few things about the previous post written by Dr. Scott -

The word amantadine is lowercase, because it is generic. The common brand names are Endantadine, Gen-Amantadine, and Symmetrel. And the term for the seizure is “grand mal” not “gran mal.”

I do not expect a doctor to be able to spell anything, however, because doctors are completely unable to spell. They are also completely unable to pronounce anything correctly, so I suppose we should be grateful he is writing and we are not listening to him.

Allie, medical transcriptionist ;)

Thank you Allie! Please, anyone, let me know whenever something is messed up - we all make mistakes :)

Clip from Wilson’s Heart and the Medicine

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I’m still a bit…shell shocked? Is that the right word? I’ve been trying to figure out what will happen to House and Wilson and I honestly just can’t right now! Even though I had assumed that Amber would die, I was really surprised at how it happened. And I was kicking myself in the butt later when I realized why she was at the bar - it was a simple explaination and no one seemed to think of it! First, here is one of my favorite clips from last night, where House has to choose to get off the bus or not (and if anyone has any other clips from this episode, leave a comment here and I’ll put it up! Thanks!).

Next, the medicine. Polite Dissent has been known to pick apart the logistics of the medicine and Dr. Scott has once again pulled apart the medicine in Wilson’s Heart.

The writers are correct in that Amantadine is poorly cleared by dialysis, and there have been deaths reported on the medication. The dose for the flu is 100MG twice a day. The only size pill Amantadine comes in is 100MG, so Amber taking two means that she was overdosing herself on it, so she bears some of the blame for this.

What happened to Amber ventricular fibrillation? Did she really remain in v-fib all the way to the hospital until she was cooled? That’s unlikely. Plus, the longer she remains in v-fib, the longer the nasty chemicals Wilson was worried about will build up. Defibrillating early is still the best shot.

Heart-lung bypass and “protective hypothermia? don’t work like that. They’re designed for short-term use, like surgeries. They are rarely used longer, for transplant patients for example, but you don’t keep cranking down the temperature.

The mitral valve is not in the pulmonary vein; it’s in between the left atrium and ventricle. Unless House is suggesting sticking a finger through the pulmonary vein, and then into the heart itself to reach the mitral valve. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. And how is sticking a finger in a major vein a good idea? How are you going to get the finger in there without cutting a big hole in it?

“Diet pills don’t cause jaundice,? that may be true, but blunt trauma does cause liver damage -– like from, I don’t know, a bus accident that destroyed both of her kidneys.

Even if deep brain stimulation could restore memory (and I see no indication in the medical literature that it can), there would be no way to target a specific memory. It’s also performed under general anesthesia (the patient is asleep), and the results are not instantaneous.

That wasn’t a complex partial seizure House suffered, that was a gran mal (tonic clonic) seizure.

So what did you think about the episode? And about Dr. Scott’s discussion about the medicine?

Wilson’s Heart Recap - House Finale

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Show starts with a “previously on House? segment, showing what we discovered last episode.

Wilson finds Amber and her heart is racing – she’s all cut and bruised and she has a lot of problems. House is there trying to figure out what is going on as well. House wants to move Amber, but the doctor doesn’t want him to.

Doctor – You’re not her doctor, you can’t move her.
House – No, but her husband can.
Wilson – Move her.

Wilson and House are on the ambulance – House is trying to help her, Wilson is trying ot figure out why she was on the bus. Amber goes into V-fib and before house can shock her, Wilson says that it will hurt her heart more if he shocks her. He says instead that they slow her heart down by icing her down and put her on bypass so that House can have more time to diagnose her correctly.

heartideas7.jpg

House – This is not a solution. All you’re doing is pressing pause.
Wilson – It gives you more time to find a diagnosis. House, this is Amber! Please.
House – Cold saline solution.

The rest of the recap (and there is a lot) is under the tag so that those who don’t wish to be spoiled don’t have to read the whole story…

Wilson’s Heart - House Finale - TONIGHT

Monday, May 19th, 2008

It’s so odd - I’m so excited to see tonights episode, yet I’m sad as well, as I know that this is the end of the season! This is one of those bitter sweet moments. Even more interesting is that we all hated Amber (aka Cut Throat Bitch), and now that we are kind of enjoying her presence, she may die! There are a few things I want to address, though, before the episode tonight.

1 - Will Amber Die?

I DON’T KNOW!! A friend of mine was on chat this morning going, “and House will save her, of course”. Ummm - no of course. Plenty of characters have died on this show, which means that we can never know if someone will make it, and what better way to shake things up than to kill someone off?

2 - Amber is House’s daughter/sister

WHAT? House doesn’t have any siblings, and as far as we know, no children (and Amber would have to have been born when he was very young). And then you’re forgetting a big thing - House M.D. isn’t a soap opera. This one I just don’t see happening.

3 - Why does Amber take the bus?

THIS is, perhaps, the biggest question. But then we have to remember that we don’t even know for sure that Amber has a car, we’re just assuming she does. Maybe she takes the bus all the time?

Alright, so she probably has a car - why, then, is she on the bus with House? It probably has a lot to do with why they’re together…

4 - Why does House say “You want me to risk my life to save Amber?”

A lot of people are assuming that this means that House is going to undergo a surgery in order to save Amber…something like a kidney donation or what have you. I tend to think that he’s going to risk his life in order to get his memory back to figure out what the clue was that he noticed before the bus accident, not that he’s going to give her a kidney or anything.

5 - Why does Wilson say “You can’t do this”?

Haven’t seen the new promo yet? It’s quick, but MaryKir (the wonderful woman) caught it - head on over to her site to see the new promo that aired last night.

I took some screenshots from that promo that may give us a spoiler as to what is going on (with House, you never know) - I put them below the cut so that those who do not want to spoil the surprise don’t have to. But remember - a screen shot doesnt’ necessarily show us what is giong to happen, although I have a bad feeling that one of these shots does.

Figuring Out the Future

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

So what do you think will happen on the finale on Monday? There are a few different ideas. Here are some -

Jake says:

House saves Amber. Somehow, sometime. I say that he actually risks his life for her. Remember the pilot? House took the case because Wilson said it was his cousin. I say that House will try to save Amber because of Wilson.

If not that, I say that he might let her die so he can have his Wilson time. I doubt that though.

Interesting Jake…

Davis says:

I think that amber on the bus with house was not a coincidence. I think house wanted to talk to amber privately (or amber to house) but did not want Wilson to know, so they went to the bar. I think Amber refused to ride on the back of house’s bike so she had the bar tender take away house’s keys. When the bus got hit it, looked like amber was talking to house, and she could have been telling him something important. I think she (being an independent person) was going to ask Wilson to marry her. Since House is such a big part of Wilson’s life she would need to ask for his blessing (or approval) to marry Wilson. I don’t know if house would be okay with that, but that is one of my many theories

Here’s the promo for next week:

Want my theory? Below the cut!

“Who Is The Mystery Woman In ‘House’s Head’?” - and You Heard It Here First!

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Everyone has been writing me asking if I know who the mystery woman is in House’s head. I can’t find a photo (yet) of her appearance in House, but I can tell you who she is!

mysterywoman.jpg

She is none other than Ivana Milicevic. If you saw her and thought “I know her!”, you probably have seen her before. She played in 007: Casino Royale, and she was also the totally hot neighbor in Almost Heaven.

And you heard it here first! Back in November I first reported what 13’s real name was - and the screencap was right! Last night Dr. Cuddy called 13 “Dr. Hadley” a total of three times. Now I know a tiny bit of what House feels like when he solves a case…

Living the Dream

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Ack! I’m so behind today! I got about 3 hours of sleep last night due to a lovely flu bug and I’m EXHAUSTED! I’m going to TRY to stay up and write the recap, but I may miss it, and if I do, I’M SORRY! Know that if I do miss it, it’ll be on in the morning - promise! Here’s the overview for tonight’s episode…414house-wilson.jpg

Jason Lewis (”Sex and the City”) Guest-Stars

House is convinced one of the actors on his favorite soap opera (guest star Jason Lewis) “Prescription Passion” has a serious medical condition after observing his symptoms on television. House decides to intervene and take matters into his own hands, but both the actor and House’s own team dismiss House¹s assessment and do not believe there is anything wrong with him. Meanwhile, much to House¹s delight, Amber and Wilson have their first argument, and Cuddy tries to keep up appearances when an inspector makes an unexpected visit to Princeton-Plainsboro.

A Little Bit of Kumar In My Life

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Kal Penn has been doing some serious plugging of his movie “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”, a sequel to Harold and Kumar go to White Castle (which I still haven’t seen - is it worth it?), and we’ve got some clips! The first is Kal Penn on Conan O’Brien’s show on April 21st.

And here you can see a video of Kal and Neil Patrick Harris at a Comicon, where Kal and Neil are asked who would win in a fight - a Minotaur with a trident or a Centaur with a crossbow. The video is really cute! There are also other videos of Kal on that site as well.

“No More Mr. Nice Guy” Recap

Monday, April 28th, 2008

And we’re BACK at PPH!!

Show opens with the Writers strike! HA! But it is a nurses strike, not a strike for the writers. A delivery guy shows up and tries to push past a nurse. The nurse says they have a legal right to block the delivery guy for 15 seconds. The large guy next to her tries to calm the delivery guy down and even gives him a hug, before we cut to his eyes rolling over into the back of his head and him passing out.

House is in the ER where Taub is running around. House encounters Cameron, who shoves some charts at him. He doesn’t take them.

House: Wasn’t my fault – the world needs nurses.

House, it turns out, is hiding in the ER because Cuddy wants to find him to send him to the ER. The brilliant, brilliant man. House sees the overweight man sitting on the gurney – the one who fainted.

House : Hey. What’s with the idiot?

Cameron: Fainting spell and recent history of disthusia – everything tastes like lemon mirangue pie. You wanna take him?

House: No.

House is intrigued that the man is not complaining about being there long enough to have 2 meals in front of him. House uses his cane to stomp on the mans foot.

Patient: I’m sure it was an accident.

House: Is he Canadian?

Cameron: He’s low priority.

House: Is that a yes?

Cameron: He’s just happy.

House: We’ve gotta stop this before it spreads.

The rest of the episode below the cut!

Tonight Tonight Tonight - Oooohhhhhh….

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Tonight’s the night! The first of four brand new House episodes! YES!

mrniceguy.jpg

Remember, tonight’s episode will air at 9 p.m. on FOX (as if we could forget) and looks to be awesome! Here’s the preview:

House suspects an emergency room patient has a bigger problem than the E.R. initially diagnosed based on the fact that the patient is too nice. A skeptical House questions the patient’s sunny disposition as the team tries to get to the bottom of his illness, but disagrees with House that niceness is a symptom. Meanwhile, House and Amber are at odds about how much time they each get to spend with Wilson, and Cuddy demands House give his team performance reviews in “No More Mr. Nice Guy”.

Don’t forget to come back for the entire recap directly after the show! Sit back, grab some snacks, and enjoy!

Oh House, we’ve missed you!!

Hugh’s Schwepp’s Commercial

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Ack! Once again I slow down on posting! I’m sorry! I think its because in Vermont summer has hit with a vengence, and with it comes outdoor activities like baseball, swinging, and chasing after our two puppies! Well, there’s that, and there’s the fact that I’m trying to avoid thinking about the new episode until Monday.

Why?

Because it makes time go slower! Of course I’m extremely excited about the new episode on Monday evening and can’t wait to cozy up in my bedroom (Scott will be watching WWE’s Raw on our living room TV, so I get the bedroom - which is cozier anyway) and bring along all of my favorite treats. What will you be snacking on during House? I usually can’t snack much simply because I’m typing, but when I watch a rerun I like to have a glass of milk and something…anything…that has chocolate in it. Snacking is serious business, you know! You can’t have something to snack on that makes too loud of a crunching noise, and it has to be something that you don’t have to pay too much attentino to, because you don’t want to have to tear your eyes away from the screen!

Hugh’s Schwepp’s commercial is out! Yay! It’s in Spanish! Well…umm…yay! LOL. Here is the commercial where Hugh is OH too sexy and a translation of what is being said

Hugh: How do you know I want a Schweppes tonic?
Woman: Because it fits you.
Hugh: Fits?
Woman: It fits you because you are not easy at the beginning, but it’s worth it to keep insisting.
Hugh: Are we insisting at my home or at yours?
Hugh: It’s the trademark of sexy.

I may have some of the translation off…if I do PLEASE let me know and I’ll fix it!!

All the Info in One Place

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Dr. House needs to take a round out of me, as I’ve been seriously slacking lately. I think that happens when I haven’t seen a new episode in a few weeks (or MONTHS dang it). I’ve been doing the quick search for news, but not much has popped up. There are a bunch of spoilers going around, which many readers don’t like so I’m avoiding for the moment, and there is the news that Cameron and Chase will NOT be going back to the regular team.

Say what?

That’s right. Creator David Shore said in an interview recently that while Chase and Cameron may get a bit more screen time than they had before, they will not be rejoining House’s regular team. In an interview with The Watcher, David Shore had a few interesting things to say - such as this little gem of wisdom:

I’m going to say something you’re readers aren’t going to like, but as someone running a television show, you have to be very careful – people think they want something and they do want something, but it’s not what they need, shall we say, and it’s not what the show needs. It’s great that they like those characters.

The most obvious [comment] is people saying, “I love the show, can’t you just make House a little nicer?? No. That’s sort of the most egregious example. No, you like him because he is who he is. And if he wasn’t who he is, you wouldn’t like him as much. He wouldn’t be the same person.

And the show as a whole falls into that. And so yes, I changed it. A little bit. And you have to be really careful with these things. It’s a real challenge. You want people to want more of things. You have to be careful on what you deliver.

He’s got a good point, but at the same time it still left me feeling like “Oh - you know what we want better than we do, huh?” But then again, he’s the one raking in the millions, not me!

He also was pretty quiet when the interviewer asked him if anyone was leaving from the show.

Something is happening at the end of this year which I think is pretty significant. I’d rather not say what it is.

Huh?! Oh now my interest is even more peaked! You can see the entire interview here. We’ve only got 10 more days until the new House episode!! Then we’ve only got four left until the end of the season. Here are a few pics from Mr. Nice Guy, the episode airing on the 28th of April, and under that you’ll find the synopsis for all of the rest of the episodes.

April 28, “No More Mister Nice Guy”: “House thinks an emergency room patient has a bigger problem than the E.R. initially diagnosed based on the fact that the patient is ‘too nice.’ Meanwhile, House and Amber (guest star Anne Dudek) are at odds vying for Wilson’s (Robert Sean Leonard) time and attention in an all-new episode.”

May 5, “Living the Dream”: “In an all-new episode, House is convinced that one of the actors (guest star Jason Lewis) on his favorite soap opera, ‘Prescription Passion,’ has a serious medical condition, but has to take matters into his own hands when both the actor and House’s own team dismiss his assessment, believing that nothing is wrong with the soap hunk.”

May 12, “House’s Head”: “In Part 1 of the two-part season finale, House is in a bus accident and loses four hours of his memory. He slowly pieces together that a fellow bus passenger was exhibiting signs of a deadly illness. But the details of who it is or how House got on the bus in the first place are locked inside his brain, and he’s desperate to add up the fleeting flashes in order to save someone who might not even know he or she could be dying.”

May 19, “Wilson’s Heart”: “In Part 2 of the two-part season finale, clues inside House’s head hold the key to a patient’s condition, and House’s friendship with Wilson is tested beyond limits as murky memories from the bus accident the night before threaten to change their lives forever.”
