Simple Explanation Recap - One of the Ducklings Dies!

Monday, April 6th, 2009

36776_house_-_ep_520_celebutopia_isa_04_122_686lo

Family is walking away from a man who looks like he’s dying (It’s Meatloaf – all of a sudden ‘I would do anything for love’ is ringing in my head.) He tells his wife that he was selfish and that he never gave her the trips and things that she wanted. He says that he’s ready and looks like he’s dying, but suddenly the wife can’t breathe and starts choking. He gathers the strength and yells for a nurse to help his wife.

House gets the chart and wonders where Kutner and 13 are – Taub tells him that Thirteen is busy with a patient and that Kutner’s dog is sick and that he’ll be in by lunch. House wonders if Taub is covering for Kutner. We find out that the POtW’s husband (herefore called Meatloaf) is dying of lung cancer. The patient wants to be released to go back to her husband, Eddie. Taub says that he has an idea.

He wheels Meatloaf into his wife’s room and tells the wife that now they can focus on making her better.

33520_house_-_ep_520_celebutopia_isa_05_122_188lo

House is back on clinic duty! In front of him is a little girl who is dressed up in pageant wear. The mother is worried about the girl – she’s staring into space and isn’t paying attention.

House: Well I can cure her, but it’s going to cost you $3.25. Well I’m not going to give you my coffee for free. (he hands the cup to the little girl). Think if it as sober juice.
The Mother: She’s drunk?

The daughter had been sneaking into the bathroom and using her mother’s mouthwash.

House: Did you spit it out?
Little Girl: Mommy doesn’t.
(HA!)

Foreman tells House that the patient’s treatment worked and that she can be released. House notices that Kutner still isn’t there and asks the crew to find out what or who he’s doing and to get him to work. As House leaves the crew gets beeped about their patient, Charlotte (POtW). She’s unable to breathe again. Taub goes into her room and Meatloaf is suddenly looking a heck of a lot stronger, sitting up on his own.

Foreman and Thirteen go to Kutner’s apartment and Thirteen has a key that she opens the door with. They start wandering around and Thirteen spies Kutner laying on the floor in his bedroom, a gun nearby! Foreman calls 911 and says that there is a gunshot wound to the left temple. A huge pool of blood is on the floor and the two start doing CPR (behind a wall – we can only see his legs). Thirteen sits back, blood on her face and all over her from the pool of blood.

Thirteen: He’s cold. Eric….

Oh My God! You think that’s something, you haven’t seen anything yet - the rest of the recap below!

Because I’ve Been A Complete Idiot

16496136451press126200992656am

Whenever I get a huge project, I tend to focus and obsess on the project and forget about little things (what? The family needs dinner? Seriously? Oh - wait - there’s 3 inches of dust on the piano?) and those little things often include my blogs!

This morning I was getting more photos of the House crew at the SAG awards when I noticed that there was a huge celebration for the 100th episode - wow - I totally missed that one! So I’ve included tons of photos from the celebration/charity event. By the way, the charity was for NAMI, which is the same charity that the House crew supported last year. If you’re interested in purchasing the Tee (it would make a great gift!), you can find the tee here.

ALSO, we’ve got confirmation that House and Cuddy will definitely hook up this season!

“Yes, we have figured out the details surrounding Huddy having sex,” declared Shore, adding that the duo will seal the deal before the end of the season. “There is a light at the end of the tunnel for fans of Huddy hoping for a hookup. It definitely won’t be what people expect. We have to do things our way, the House way. We wouldn’t want to have the characters do anything out of character.”

Adds Jacobs: “We have to be careful about making moves like this. We do not want to disappoint the fans and just do something out of left field.”

And, of course, Hugh was his normal hilarious self about the situation…

“Really? They told you that? They haven’t told me that. Do you suppose either one of them were ever going to tell me that? Was I just going to come in one day and read that in a script and be given no preparation time? Now I’m nervous. And I have to start doing some push-ups or sit-ups. Did they tell you how much of me will be shown? What areas do I need to work on? Now I am really glad I didn’t eat that 100-episode cake.”

After taking a moment to digest the news, Laurie conceded that the development was a long time coming. “I think it will be a lot of fun,” he said. “These two characters, for all their bickering, obviously take such pleasure in each other’s company. They are two loners and there is a sort of comfort that they give to each other. This could be very sweet and touching, and, then I am sure, because I know David and how his sick mind works, it will all go pear-shaped.”

And how did Lisa handle the news?

“I did not know they were going do it for sure,” she confessed. “I always figured someday it was inevitable but I had not heard that yet.”

Echoing Laurie’s sentiments, Edelstein expressed confidence that the dicey plot would be handled with great care. “I don’t think there will be any shark jumping because it is still David Shore running the place,” she said. “If David got fired and someone else took over the show and put a sex scene in, I might be worried. But because it is David at the reins, I think it will be well thought out and planned and have a point.

“It won’t work out anyway,” she added with a laugh. “It isn’t like they’d would move in together and raise Cuddy’s new baby and have a wedding and a house in Connecticut. It will end in disaster. It may be really fun for a brief period of time, but then it will all come crumbling down. David is clearly not comfortable with positivity and happy endings.”

Spoiler News on House! The Big Spoiler Post!!

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

You’ve been asking for some spoilers - I’ve got them for you!

For some reason, I’m not a huge fan of Ask Ausiello - but one thing I can’t deny is that he manages to get the spoiler info that we all enjoy so much. If you’re looking for spoiler info, this is the stuff you want!

Question: Thanks for the awesome Q/A with House’s David Shore and Katie Jacobs. Did you talk to Jesse Spencer at the Globes? Has he been frustrated by his lack of screen time, too? — Brendan
Ausiello: I did talk to Jesse, and, believe it or not, he says he “really enjoyed” all the downtime. “I’ve had time to pursue other interests. I think a lot of actors in this town, because there’s a lot of unemployment, are afraid. But I decided, ‘You know what? I’m not going to be fearful of this.’ I know that the show is good. I know that I’m a part of the show. And I know that I’m still going to be part of the show, so I never really had a problem with it. And I think they did the right thing. Normally in Season 4, you have a slump. It’s standard practice in a hit show for some reason — season 4 always slumps. So they tried to change things up before that happened.” That being said, two years of backburneritis is enough. “The last two years they’ve been integrating the new characters into the show,” he says, “and now it’s time that they brought us in more often.” Amen!

Question: Got anything on House’s 100th episode on Feb. 2? — Aleki
Ausiello: Sadly, I’m told Chase and Cameron aren’t in it at all. In David Shore and Katie Jacobs’ defense, they said C&C would be re-integrated next season. Patience, people.

Now is when I give you a warning. Below the cut is more spoilers - not just from Ausiello, but also from other sites. Some of these spoilers are pretty revealing, so don’t click below unless you’re really interested in knowing about what’s going to happen in the next couple of House episodes…

Serious spoilers below the cut!

New Episodes Coming Soon!

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Hey guys! How was your vacation?! Mine was good - lots of presents (for the kids, of course - although we did splurge and buy Rock Band 2), lots of food (too much!) and lots and lots of time playing with the kids. School, however, is now back in session and it’s time for me to get back to work!

I’ve been periodically checking the normal sites for pictures of the celebs out and about and really haven’t found much. Looks like they’re keeping to themselves this holiday season, and who can blame them?! But the award season is getting started (This Sunday are the Globes!), so expect TONS of photos of the celebrities dressed up! Let’s just hope that Jennifer is having a good fashion day instead of a bad one!

I actually have spent quite a bit of time catching up on old House episodes. There were a few I had never seen - all old ones, of course. One episode I was looking forward to seeing in particular was the one with Michelle Trachtenberg - I never seem to be able to catch it, but I did and it was awesome!! Thanks to USA’s marathons, the hubby and I have been able to curl up on the couch every night and watch an episode or two of House. Thanks USA!

New episodes, however, will start again on January 19th, which you’ll see, once you look at your calendar, is a Monday. This has been a source of debate in our home since the idea of House on Monday nights was brought up at the end of last season. My husband watches WWE’s Raw and actually runs the WWE Daily site for 451 Press. This means that on most Monday’s he dominates the living room. We do have a TV in the bedroom, but both of us want to watch our show on the big TV, so it looks like we’ll be doing a few games of rock, paper, scissors!

The next episode is called “Painless”, and the only information I have about it right now is this:

House and Cuddy are both fixing up their homes, while Foreman has a difficult choice to make.

Hmmm - difficult choice? About Dr. Hadley, I presume? I’m guessing they either have to stop dating or she has to stop the treatment - and from the look of Lori Petty (LORI PETTY! WOOT! Love you Lori! If you happen to stumble upon this, email me, will you?! I’d love to talk! You’re one of my favorite actresses!!) sorry - there’s a bit of fan-girl hiding inside of me who pops out at the mention of Lori Petty (WOOT!), anyway, from the look of her character, it looks like she’s getting better on the treatment - would Hadley continue her relationship or choose to continue the treatment? Hmmm…of course I could be completely wrong and Foreman’s choice may have more to do with figuring out if he should keep that ugly hairy-thing hanging down from his chin area or not. (that beard-type thingie is giving me the creeps guys! It looks like it’s ALIVE!)

Here are some promo pics - and don’t you love the picture of House on the official site’s main page? Gotta love it!

It WAS Lori Petty! And the Actress Who Played Young Dr. Hadley

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I am a huge Lori Petty fan, and I actually pegged in last night’s episode, Let Them Eat Cake that it was Lori Petty playing the ill woman that Olivia Wilde was avoiding! Huzzah for me! Not only was she in that episode, she’s going to be in the next episode as well - I love Lori Petty. Have I said that yet? I love Lori Petty! Anyway, I figured if it was her that she’d have to have a pretty decent sized part - at least a speaking part - to appear, and it looks like I was right! Her name on the show, by the way, is Janice.

Also, it appears that some of you have been wondering who the young actress was that played Young Dr. Thirteen - it was none other than a new actress named Julia Putnam, and this looks like it was her first role! She’s also slated to appear in a movie called 18 Year Old Virgin next year.

Emancipation Recap

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Opens in a steel family and a young girl is talking to a guy about giving money to some sort of charity. She starts to be short of breath and grabs her chest. She falls down on the steel conveyor belt and the old man stops it and calls for an ambulance.

House steps out of the elevator and confirms that he didn’t ask Cuddy out. The ducklings start telling him about the 16 yo patient and they tell him that she’s an emancipated minor. Her parents died last year and she got emancipated to avoid foster care. She got her GED and started working.

Kutner is backing her up and says that just because she’s a teenager doesn’t mean she’s into drugs and sex. House wants him to check for drugs and a pregnancy just in case.

Foreman comes into House’s office and says that he’s been asked to help in a clinical trial. House says that he can’t because clinical trials take time, and “your time is my time”.

Kutner’s doing an echo on the POtW (Sophia) and says that he lost his parents when he was si and that it gets easier. Kutner says that her heart is healthy.

Taub and Thirteen are checking the girl’s apartment, which is well taken care of and organized considering her age. Thirteen finds a bong in her house.

The rest of the recap is below the cut!

House Celebrates 100th Episode!

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Hugh Laurie and the entire House cast (minus Kal Penn) celebrated their 100th episode recently and the entire crew had a huge blast! Looks like Hugh gave a little speech before everyone decided to attack the cake with various medical instruments. What I wouldn’t give to have been at that party - looks like it was a blast!

A Lot To Discuss About House

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Well, we sure have a lot to discuss, don’t we? First I want to talk about the whole Thirteen/lesbian kissing scene thing. I, too, was surprised that it was allowed on at 8 pm - which leads me to believe that the time change wasn’t set up for 8 pm originally. But that is neither here nor there.

A lot of you have told me how much you disliked that scene, and how you dislike Thirteen in general. I can’t say as I disagree with you - I’m surprised to say that Thirteen makes me want Cameron back! I don’t have a problem with the whole lesbian thing because they did explain (sort of) why she’s going for women instead of guys, so it’s not just the writers trying to get a gratuitous sex scene in there. But I watch and wonder: will Thirteen’s life mean something? Which, I believe, is the point.

Next is the look on House’s face when he found out that Cuddy was adopting. Here it is:

Some of you have said you think House looks that way because he’s realizing that everyone’s moving on. I don’t think so - call me a romantic but I think it’s because HE wanted to be the one to be with Cuddy, and he knows that she’s not going to need him or want him around as much if she’s got a baby. Maybe he doesn’t want her sexually, but he does want her in his life, and he knows that it will change once a baby comes into the picture.

Finally some spoilers for next week’s episode - if you do NOT want to see spoilers, don’t click below!

House Episode 5.03: Adverse Changes Preview

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Hi guys! I’m so sorry I didn’t get this preview up yesterday like I wanted to - my best friend bought me a ticket to see New Kids On the Block in Boston and by the time I drove home from there it was 4 am, so I was catching up with sleep and trying to get my work caught up! In order to pay for my sins, I’ve included not only the synopsis and some photos, but a few sneak peak videos as well! Looks like the PI Lucas is back this round and one of my favorite little-known actors, Breckin Meyer (Clueless, anyone?) will be on tonight - yay!

Remember to come back for the review right after the show tonight! (We’re watching it live tonight so that we can watch Iron Man after…)

A struggling artist (Breckin Meyer) taking part in three drug trials to pay his bills is also suffering from something that’s altering his perception and threatening not only his livelihood but his life as well. Meanwhile, House has Lucas (Michael Weston) look into the private lives of his team, including Taub, whose marriage is in trouble.

Answers about Dying Changes Everything

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

One of the House writers, Eli Attie, has taken the time to answer some of the fans questions about Dying Changes Everything - take a look:
Will Wilson stay on the show?

Wilson will stay on the show, but the rift between him and House is very real, and won’t be easy to repair. For his part, House will have to fill that vacuum in his life — losing his best and arguably only friend, as well as his conscience on the show.

House was definitely going into emotional turmoil last night as his feelings were concealed until the very end when he allowed his vulnerability to be thrown onto the table. Will we see House throw his vulnerability on the table to more characters?

It goes without saying that House doesn’t show vulnerability easily or often. It would take a major event, possibly a catastrophic one — though we may well see a couple more of those this season.

Was Cuddy’s line to Wilson “go to heck (you know what I mean)” meant to show her growing independence from Wilson’s influence as he always helped her in dealing with House? Is Cuddy finally trusting her instincts?

Cuddy was making it clear that she thought Wilson was being just as unreasonable as House in their “counseling session.” Plus she doesn’t want to see Wilson leave PPH (or House, for that matter) any more than House does. She relies on Wilson, which is exactly why she wants to continue relying on him.

How much character development can we expect to see from 13? I was pleased to see her evolving from the mysterious girl into a more distinct personality in this episode.

We’re going to see a lot of development in her character this season — as Thirteen goes through the various stages of her slow-death Huntington’s diagnosis. The premiere was just the beginning, and we can expect all sorts of reactions and changes from her, given her rather grim prognosis.

Interviews About Season 5

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

I know I just posted about the season premiere (ON TONIGHT), but I found this long interview over on Hollywood.com that you have to read! Here are a few snippits:

On the dimensions of House he’s excited to explore:
Laurie: There are places to go, there are layers to be revealed, situations to put him in that will reveal anxieties and desires that he has. In fact, those are things that we have actually done so far this season. In the first half dozen shows, we see House in some pretty unusual situations. We see him in ways that we haven’t seen him before, dealing with his own loss, his loss of Wilson, potentially the loss of a parent and just dealing with his own grief, how grief shows itself in him. There are ways in which it surprises him as well as everyone else, but I feel just so lucky to be driving this beautifully constructed motor car. I’m just thankful that they remember to put gas in the tank, if that analogy makes any sense at all. But it is very much [the writers’] car. They designed it and I drive it where they tell me.

On his recent decision to re-up for several more seasons of the show:
Laurie: I certainly feel very, very blessed to be doing what I’m doing, playing this character which is a character that I still am fascinated by and love, I would say. Actually, I think that’s part of an actor’s job, to love the character that you play, in a way. I love the show, the people I’m working with – I’d be foolish not to go as far as the show goes, to go the distance with the show. If that’s where it takes us then that’s where it takes us. Then it may not. It might all end in a week’s time, but that’s partly me. I’m always thinking that way. I mean, I think this occurs in a woman’s life. It’s an enormous thing to happen, you know, your husband is cheating on you and what do you do and who are your allies and who comes to your aid? And all these things are, I think, relevant and equally true now, so it’s just a different observation, different observations on an age-old trouble.

On the long-simmering prospect of a House-Cuddy romance:
Edelstein: I wouldn’t want to ruin anything, but they’re definitely exploring the House/Cuddy relationship further without actually losing the dynamic that exists between them. That kind of edgy dynamic does not go away. David Shore never writes in a straight line. So it’s been a lot of fun…I think that if you asked Cuddy, I think for her she deeply admires this human being as much as he’s a pain in the ass or a pain in the arse, depending on who you talk to. I think she sees the best in him on that level even though he makes her life very, very difficult at times.

On Kutner’s approach to life and death:

Penn: At the end of the last season, you find out what had happened to Kutner’s parents. When he was six he saw them get murdered, basically, so his view of life and death is maybe a little more grounded in something. He’s mourned something so severe, so something that would happen to Amber is just part of life and death. But he also asked her out after Wilson had already beaten him to it, so he probably had some sort of a private grieving process. When he said goodbye to her it certainly wasn’t this big dramatic, emotional thing for him. He just did what he had to do, kind of smiled at her, and that was it.

On Thirteen’s life-altering medical revelation:
Wilde: At the end of Season Four we learned that Thirteen indeed does have Huntington’s Disease, which she suspected because of her mother. It’s House that encouraged her to find out. That was a difficult decision for her, I think, partly because of Amber’s death, she decided to go ahead and find out. Not only does she find out that she has Huntington’s but it’s very bad, her diagnosis, in that she doesn’t have too long. Eight to ten years is the life expectancy. Many of those years will be miserable dealing with the side effects of the disease. In the beginning of Season Five we pick up with her dealing with that. She is a woman who really likes to be in control. She doesn’t like to have anyone pity her. She doesn’t like to bring her personal life into the office. She would rather have no one even call her by her real name then have anyone know anything know anything about her.

See the entire House Cast Interview.

Where Has The Writer Been?

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Would you believe that I took a trip to Tahiti for a month where I did nothing but watch House reruns and sip fruity drinks with umbrellas in them? No?! I wouldn’t either. Actually what happened is really benign - the last month of the summer just got away from me. Between all of the normal everyday life stuff, a lot of not-so-great things happened and, the next thing I knew, it was the middle of September. I apologize greatly for taking a month (or so) off, but please know that I’m here! I’m back! And now that the kiddos are back in school (one is in preschool which just started) and the new season is rushing right up to us, I’m ready to get the show on the road!

One of the good things that happened since I’ve been gone is that the gurus at 451 Press changed the layout a bit here, so I can post tons of pics in a little gallery, making it easy to see new pictures of the show, which I love.

There are TONS of things to discuss so let me gather my thoughts and I’ll be back with some spoilers and other information about the new season - I’m also working on getting some stuff for giveaways (yay), so make sure you keep coming back!

For now, here are some HQ photos from the season promotional photo shoot!!

Big Celebrities at Fox Party!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Fox’s All Star Party at the Pier had some huge stars! All the Fox celebrities showed up, including Hugh, Omar, Olivia, and Kal! Absent were Jesse Spencer, Jennifer Morrison, and Lisa Edelstein (and RSL, who’s never at these parties).

Unfortunately this year I don’t see any pics of Hugh on bumper cars, but there is a cute one of the three new ducklings!

House in America

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

I got a desperate email from a reader this morning who was providing me with the news that Hugh has, apparently, purchased a house in the United States. She also asks that I refrain from posting images or the address of the property.

“I think Hugh deserves a bit of privacy, don’t you?” she asks.

Yes, I do. I will refrain from posting these photos, or from saying where you can see them. I wanted to write about him purchasing a house in the US, however, because I hope it means that he will no longer have a rocky relationship with his wife or kids. I am hoping that this means that Jo and the family will be moving over here, at least part of the year, so that they do not have to be separated as much as they usually are. Hugh and his family deserve not only privacy, but also the ability to be able to spend quality time together.

House’s Slot for Fall and Ratings for Finale

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Well, the House finale did well. How well? The season-finale of House at 16.16 million viewers and a 5.7/14 among adults 18-49. That is an amazing score.

House came in third, below American Idol (when will that show die?) and Grey’s Anatomy when it comes to the top DVR shows.

So what about fall? We’ve got TONS to talk about when it comes to next year, including some questions that people have. To begin with, House will be airing on Tuesday evenings at 8 pm.

Next we’ll get to a few questions. The first comes from Chiodo -

do you know which was the symptom that Gerg saw BEFORE the crash?? he can’t know kidney failure before the crash happened…which was the misterious sympthom??

I believe that the only “symptom” he saw was the pills, which wouldn’t have freaked him out, except for hte bus crash. My assumption is that his brain put together the bus crash and the pills and he knew that Amber was going to be in trouble.

Elvis Orlando FL asks -
I dont understand y wilson is mad at house . they wert having and afair House cant be resposible for the bus axident?

There are many theories about whether Wilson will stay mad at house, but one thing is fairly positive - Wilson is upset at House because he believes that if Amber wouldn’t have rushed out to give House a ride, she wouldn’t be dead.

And finally for today, we’ve got Allie, who noticed a few things about the previous post written by Dr. Scott -

The word amantadine is lowercase, because it is generic. The common brand names are Endantadine, Gen-Amantadine, and Symmetrel. And the term for the seizure is “grand mal” not “gran mal.”

I do not expect a doctor to be able to spell anything, however, because doctors are completely unable to spell. They are also completely unable to pronounce anything correctly, so I suppose we should be grateful he is writing and we are not listening to him.

Allie, medical transcriptionist ;)

Thank you Allie! Please, anyone, let me know whenever something is messed up - we all make mistakes :)
