What’s the world coming to when I can’t find a video of The Band from TV’s performance on Idol Gives Back last night?! Gah! I’ve been looking all over and all I can find is their rehearsal video on YouTube - no video of the actual performance. Dang it! I’ve heard, however, that it is available to purchase on iTunes (of COURSE I don’t have an iPod).
I do have a video of their performance at Comedy for a Cure on Sunday - I LOVE this song!
Okay, to begin with, I love the survey that TV Squad has got at the end of their “Frozen” review. The question ponders whether House fans believe that Dr. House should have a love interest (such as Mira Sorvino), or not.
It was put up this morning around 7 a.m. and as of about twelve hours later (if they’re on the East coast), 332 voters think that House needs a love interest as compared to 92 voters who do not believe that a love interest would be in the character’s best interest. This really surprises me! Most people that I know that loves House don’t think that the character would be the same with a love interest. What do you think?
Next bit of info - preliminary reports have come back about the ratings: FOX averaged a 36.5 rating/55 share in primetime Sunday, although those numbers will change when final ratings for the live broadcast are calculated….At 10 p.m., the Super Bowl post-game show and a special “House” averaged 25.1/41 for FOX
I honestly have no idea what numbers are good or not, but I’ll keep on top of this to see if House did better than normal.
Next up: the music! A lot of you have e-mailed me asking what music was playing during the trailer. It’s a beautiful song called Breathe Me, by Sia. The video for the song is below. I’m finding it and downloading it quickly, as it’s such a wonderful song! Added: my good friend Dave at one of my favorite sites, Killed by the Video Star, has put up a review of the song. It’s a good review, especially since his music taste is definitely not the kind of songs that Sia sings. Go check it out here
And finally, NEW HOUSE TOMORROW!! The patient is the wonderful Laura Silverman who was gracious enough to give me an interview a week or so ago. I can’t wait to watch the episode! She said she had “tingles” when Hugh touched her. I probably would too! Don’t forget to stop back for the recap tomorrow night!
So I was watching television and doing a little work and I heard this:
Sound familiar?
Yeah! I thought that House was on!!
The song is called “Teardrop” and is by a group called Massive Attack. Here’s the video of the full song - check it out:
I’ve got to say, though, that I prefer the little pieces and not the full song!! I also wonder how it’s legal for Assassin’s creed to use the theme song to House - don’t the get permissions for that or something?!
Allison sent me this link to the funniest promo for House that I’ve ever seen - and when you take into context the singer, it makes it even more enjoyable!
House finally returns tonight. No more being displaced by American Idol and award shows. Not anymore. Nope! Get ready folks, we are set to see 8 new episodes over the next eight weeks. Isn’t it about time that we got some new shows!
Now, tonight show begins at a strange time. If you are taping the show set your TIVO, DVR or VCR to tape the show at 9:07 pm EST because that’s when it starts. Don’t forget to time the taping to run after 10 pm too or you’ll miss the ending.
Tonight’s show is called “Top Secret”.
Marc Blucas who played Riley on “Buffy the Vampire Slayerâ€? guest stars as an ex-Marine suffering from Gulf War syndrome. In a strange turn of events this ex-marine happens to be the one that saved House’s life in a dream that he’d had the day before.
Chase and Cameron get a little bit distracted when they get busy with each other.
There hasn’t been a new episode of House since Tuesday February 13th, and the only other two new episodes this year were in January. That’s only three new shows so far folks.
So, as I was saying … there is a new episode coming up this Tuesday. That’s tomorrow evening at 9 pm EST.
The new episode is called “Half Witt” and the episode description says “House treats a musical savant suffering from brain damage.” The episode will co-star Dave Matthews, AND a secret about Dr. House will be revealed.
Here’s a preview (yes it says three weeks, it’s an old preview, the new show is tomorrow- don’t worry!):
Sounds like it might be a good episode huh?
The only bad thing about finally getting a new episode is that we’re going to have to wait until the end of March (I believe) until the next new episode. How Fox expects us to hang on for so long I don’t know. They’d better get their act together before we all stop watching shouldn’t they?
As many of you already know Hugh Laurie was a fairly big star in the UK in the 80’s and 90’s. One of the shows on which he made his claim to fame was “A bit Fry and Laurie” a comedy series. He starred on that show for four seasons.
Now that Hugh is staring in House he’s probably an even bigger star in North America than he ever was in Britain. His fame has grown.
There are a number of short videos on the internet that show Hugh Laurie at his comedic best. Some of them show him singing songs that he wrote and composed himself. I believe that the “Sophisticated Song” is one that he created on it’s own.
The song has a bluesy groove to it, but the wording is all Hugh. Here it is, performed by the man himself:
Can’t seem to find his cool? Hey Hugh - I think your cool has come into it’s own. It’s your fans that are just sitting there drooling these days.
What did you think of that little tune? He’s got some talent doesn’t he? Lip trumpet? Smooth voice, and he plays guitar. Your hired Hugh.
Hugh Lauries had a huge week hasn’t he? Actually I’d say he’s had quite the start to the year having won a Golden Globe and then just this past Sunday night he won a Screen Actors Guild award for Best actor in a Drama too.
I wonder what else is in store for Hugh this year?
Did you enjoy the last episode of House? He seems to be pretty much back to his regular charactor although he might actually care about his patients a bit more than he did in the past. I guess we’ll have to wait to see how future episodes go to see if Dr. House evolves or devolves.
Here’s a video that is a medley of Hugh Lauries acting career. There are numerous very short clips, mostly humorous from his Fry and Laurie days right up to a scene from House. For those that aren’t all that familiar with Hugh Lauries vast acting career I’m sure you’ll be amazed and amused when you see him playing so many different characters.
I must say though, Hugh does not make a pretty woman. Or does he? What do you think?
Here’s a video I found on ifilm with Hugh Laurie looking like he’s in his 30’s. He certainly looks a bit older than in his Fry and Laurie days, and his face has thinned out so it looks younger but more like the present day face of Dr. House.
In this video he sings and Ode to Stephie Graph the famous womens Tennis player.
I have no idea what show it might have been taped off of, or if it was in England or the USA. Judging from the clothing, hair style and music style I think this video would have been from the late 80’s or early 90’s.
Love it?
I think he’s a pretty good singer, don’t you? It’d be nice to hear him actually sing something serious to see how talented he really is. The only music and singing that I’ve managed to find with Hugh Laurie performing has been humorous.
Don’t get me wrong I love watching this man sing and be funny. It’s certainly a change from his character on House. I guess I’d just like to see more.
Have you been enjoying the occasional video’s that I’ve been putting up of Hugh Laurie and his other acting and singing experiences? I hope you have.
Now when the show gets rolling again on a regular schedule this sites going to have a lot more info about the episodes and the show itself. But until it starts up again on January 30th I’ll try to keep you happy with tidbits about the star and his co-stars. Ok?
Watch his Saturday Night monologue. It’s quite humourous. (notice I spell that with a U being Canadian). Hugh hosted Saturday Night Live last fall and this is how he opened the show:
A couple of months ago, I think it was early November, Hugh Laurie hosted Saturday Night Live. He actually performed a song about two thirds of the way into the show showing off his musical talents by playing the guitar, the harmonica and singing a song.
The song in question is a protest song, with, for the most part, clearer words than anything I’ve ever heard Bob Dylan do, but yet similar to Bob Dylan’s style of music.
I remember the night that I first saw this. My husband was just getting ready to go to bed and I had changed the channel and to my amazement I saw Hugh Laurie on the Saturday Night Live show just beginning his song. We have a PVR so I was able to pause the program while I called for my husband to come back and watch Hugh Laurie sing.
I had no idea if his singing would be good or not. I knew that he had musical talent as I’ve both read about it and seen some of it when watching some of the old Fry and Laurie videos.
I love how this seems like it’s a serious song and then he throw in his own particular brand of humor here and there. Watch the video and listen to the words carefully:
