Interview with Lisa Edelstein and Cuddy Strip-Tease (Finally)

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

You know, I kept saying I was going to grab the Cuddy strip-tease and put it up online for everyone, but I kept forgetting! We have it on our DVR, so I can watch it there and forget to look for it online. FINALLY we have the strip tease, or the Lisa Edelstein strip tease or pole dance - whatever you want to call it. I call it: sheer genius.

Lisa also gave a short interview to E!’s Kristen , where she talks about Cuddy, House, and the strip tease and Hugh. Here’s a little excerpt:

Could you tell us something fun about the lap-dance scene?
We filmed for about four hours, and there were several moves that were left out in the final edit, which were my favorite. I rehearsed for about two weeks with a special trainer who does not train strippers but trains women to do that kind of dancing for themselves or for their husbands or wives, however they may roll. It was a little scary, but it was a lot of fun.

How did Hugh handle it?
Hugh was so wonderful. I did it for him before we shot it because I was so worried. It’s a whole different relationship than what we have as friends working together. So for Hugh and the director and producer of that episode, I did a personal lap dance and showed it to them, and Hugh was incredibly supportive, like a cheerleader. There was nothing about what he did that made me uncomfortable. He appreciated it as a man, up to the level that he could and should in a way that was not inappropriate. I felt beautiful, and it ended up being a really lovely experience.

Clip from Wilson’s Heart and the Medicine

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I’m still a bit…shell shocked? Is that the right word? I’ve been trying to figure out what will happen to House and Wilson and I honestly just can’t right now! Even though I had assumed that Amber would die, I was really surprised at how it happened. And I was kicking myself in the butt later when I realized why she was at the bar - it was a simple explaination and no one seemed to think of it! First, here is one of my favorite clips from last night, where House has to choose to get off the bus or not (and if anyone has any other clips from this episode, leave a comment here and I’ll put it up! Thanks!).

Next, the medicine. Polite Dissent has been known to pick apart the logistics of the medicine and Dr. Scott has once again pulled apart the medicine in Wilson’s Heart.

The writers are correct in that Amantadine is poorly cleared by dialysis, and there have been deaths reported on the medication. The dose for the flu is 100MG twice a day. The only size pill Amantadine comes in is 100MG, so Amber taking two means that she was overdosing herself on it, so she bears some of the blame for this.

What happened to Amber ventricular fibrillation? Did she really remain in v-fib all the way to the hospital until she was cooled? That’s unlikely. Plus, the longer she remains in v-fib, the longer the nasty chemicals Wilson was worried about will build up. Defibrillating early is still the best shot.

Heart-lung bypass and “protective hypothermia don’t work like that. They’re designed for short-term use, like surgeries. They are rarely used longer, for transplant patients for example, but you don’t keep cranking down the temperature.

The mitral valve is not in the pulmonary vein; it’s in between the left atrium and ventricle. Unless House is suggesting sticking a finger through the pulmonary vein, and then into the heart itself to reach the mitral valve. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. And how is sticking a finger in a major vein a good idea? How are you going to get the finger in there without cutting a big hole in it?

“Diet pills don’t cause jaundice, that may be true, but blunt trauma does cause liver damage -– like from, I don’t know, a bus accident that destroyed both of her kidneys.

Even if deep brain stimulation could restore memory (and I see no indication in the medical literature that it can), there would be no way to target a specific memory. It’s also performed under general anesthesia (the patient is asleep), and the results are not instantaneous.

That wasn’t a complex partial seizure House suffered, that was a gran mal (tonic clonic) seizure.

So what did you think about the episode? And about Dr. Scott’s discussion about the medicine?

Life Intervenes

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Sorry guys! It’s been a crazy week, and I’ve let House slide by a bit because, well, there really wasn’t much news! I was really excited when I heard that the shows were going to start again, but then I got a bit bummed when I realized it would be the end of APRIL before we saw a new episode - not that I don’t like reruns, but I really want to see more of this season and see if the old ducklings get more air time and how cut throat bitch and Wilson do together!

The news I’ve missed? Omar Epps won an award! He won the award for best supporting actor - congrats Omar!!

And some trailers have turned up for Street Kings! Here’s the best one I can find so far (I’d forgotten how much I missed Keanu in a modern law-type role), and I’ll put more up if I can find it!

A Bit of This and That

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Frozen2resiz.jpgOkay, to begin with, I love the survey that TV Squad has got at the end of their “Frozen” review. The question ponders whether House fans believe that Dr. House should have a love interest (such as Mira Sorvino), or not.

It was put up this morning around 7 a.m. and as of about twelve hours later (if they’re on the East coast), 332 voters think that House needs a love interest as compared to 92 voters who do not believe that a love interest would be in the character’s best interest. This really surprises me! Most people that I know that loves House don’t think that the character would be the same with a love interest. What do you think?

Next bit of info - preliminary reports have come back about the ratings: FOX averaged a 36.5 rating/55 share in primetime Sunday, although those numbers will change when final ratings for the live broadcast are calculated….At 10 p.m., the Super Bowl post-game show and a special “House” averaged 25.1/41 for FOX

I honestly have no idea what numbers are good or not, but I’ll keep on top of this to see if House did better than normal.

Next up: the music! A lot of you have e-mailed me asking what music was playing during the trailer. It’s a beautiful song called Breathe Me, by Sia. The video for the song is below. I’m finding it and downloading it quickly, as it’s such a wonderful song! Added: my good friend Dave at one of my favorite sites, Killed by the Video Star, has put up a review of the song. It’s a good review, especially since his music taste is definitely not the kind of songs that Sia sings. Go check it out here

And finally, NEW HOUSE TOMORROW!! The patient is the wonderful Laura Silverman who was gracious enough to give me an interview a week or so ago. I can’t wait to watch the episode! She said she had “tingles” when Hugh touched her. I probably would too! Don’t forget to stop back for the recap tomorrow night!

What’s That Song Again?

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Some of you have been wondering what the music played at the end of “Games” was. I have to admit - I contacted Fox and didn’t hear back! Fortunately Jason, an amazing Watching House reader, did some digging and discovered who was playing the “folky” type music that was played at the end of the show when House was eliminating the fellows. Are you ready for this?

It’s a “guitar composition” by Hugh Laurie!! And the crappy, really loud piano music that is played earlier in the show is by Hugh too!

We all know that Hugh is talented, but this is the first time that I’ve been able to see that they’ve had Hugh play something they didn’t attribute to him. All of the other times we’ve been able to see him playing the piano or guitar, but this time they played the music w/o saying who did it! Interesting…

Meanwhile, here’s a little composition that someone put online that is an example of Hugh’s tremendous musical ability. Check it out!

And if you were wondering what the OTHER song that was played at the end of the episode was, it was Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum! Love that song!

What’s Hugh Doing in L.A.?

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Why, supporting the writers, of course! Check out this YouTube clip - I’m pretty sure it’s from the second or third of December (was put up on YouTube on the third) - about three minutes in, Hugh and Lisa visit the strikers, talk about House, grab a picket sign and stat walking. I always love hearing Hugh talk in his normal accent.

Hugh even has to worry about “police brutality” - check out the clip:

I’m not quite sure if they’re still filming or what Lisa means by the comment she makes about “changing a lot of stuff around” - what do you think?

Chase: Man of the Week

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Looks like our friend Jesse Spencer is the man of the week! The “Reader’s Jeer of the Week” on TV Guide’s site is all about Chase!!

Lisa Menaster in L.A. writes:

Jeers to House for giving Chase almost no screen time. The Australian doctor, fantastically played by Jesse Spencer, has been reduced to about one scene per episode, usually doing a surgery. Chase is one of the most interesting characters on the show, and creator David Shore is wasting him. Please, give us more Chase!

You can see the full Jeer of the Week here.

Awww Lisa, we understand you love his sexy, hot Australian-ness! I do too! Jesse is not only hot, he’s a fairly decent actor! Not as good as Hugh, but then it takes a master to be as good an actor as Hugh Laurie is! But I do miss his presence in the episodes, so I dredged up one of my favorite scenes starring Jesse just for you! It’s the scene in which Jesse tries to speak with an American accent…all too funny!!

For more great news this week, head over to the male soap opera - wrestling!

House Is On? Wait…No

Monday, November 26th, 2007

So I was watching television and doing a little work and I heard this:

Sound familiar?

Yeah! I thought that House was on!!

The song is called “Teardrop” and is by a group called Massive Attack. Here’s the video of the full song - check it out:

I’ve got to say, though, that I prefer the little pieces and not the full song!! I also wonder how it’s legal for Assassin’s creed to use the theme song to House - don’t the get permissions for that or something?!

Why Robert Sean Leonard is the perfect foil…

I found this clip on YouTube tonight…too funny!
