We open with a couple eating dinner and the man being very opinionated. A couple at the other table is disagreeing with him and the first man confronts them. The disagreeing man swore that he didn’t throw a roll (he did) and that he wasn’t doing anything, even though he clearly was. The man who was disagreeing suddenly has blood coming from his eye and goes down.

House is in bed (yummy – oops – sorry – hormones overreacted there) and slowly waking up. He looks around as if to see someone but no one is there. In his robe he checks the apartment but no one is there either. There’s a red mark on his cheek and his lips from lipstick, and a tube of lipstick on the counter in the bathroom. Cuddy’s?

Taub’s consulting with Cameron in the ER and he doesn’t think the bloody tear patient is worthy of House. He asks Cameron about what he should wear to the wedding and she say that there’s been a “glitch” with the wedding, and that House will be interested in the case. He had surgery to help correct a seizure issue and now he’s having different problems.

Taub goes to the POtW and he tells Taub that he’ll go grocery shopping and wind up with all sorts of stuff in his cart that he didn’t put there – stuff that he hates. And that his left hand hates him, and as he says that his left arm tries to take off the blood pressure cuff.

Taub: Yeah, I think House will be interested.

House walks into the office humming and in a VERY good mood. Taub gives him the case.

Taub: Alien hand syndrome.
House: Set off by a stroke? Or was there a pony in the back yard?

They’re discussing the right and left brain and House is saying that the right brain is cheesy and the left brain is the important one – Taub and Foreman, however, disagree and say that it’s just as important as the left brain.

And in walks Cuddy! Hello Cuddy! House wants to say hello to Cuddy too.

House: Good morning sunshine. We’ve got a brand new toy – wanna play?

The rest beneath the cut!

Cuddy, however, tells him that they need to talk. House tells the crew to search the POtW’s home and goes into his main office with Cuddy. Cuddy tells him that people who get close to him get hurt, and how he’s a valued employee in the hospital. She tells him that they need to focus on the fact that he’s an employee and she’s his boss and that those are the rules. As she walks out, House looks at his hand where he’s holding the lipstick and smiles slightly.

And where do you think House will go after a situation like that? To Wilson, of course! And he does. He goes into the office, sits down in Wilson’s patient chair and speaks.

House: I slept with Cuddy. After she helped me detox from Vicodin. I’ve been clean for almost 24 hours now. Okay. Thought I’d mention it. (and he goes to walk off)
Wilson: Wow. Wow. One for each!
House: That’s what she said.
Wilson: How’s the pain?
House: She probably had some bruising.
Wilson: Yeah, I get it, you’re a stud.

Wilson tells House it’s fantastic and wonders how he’s going to screw it up. House tells him, however, that Cuddy laid down the law. Wilson thinks that she’s either in love with House or that she “jumped him out of pity” (or maternal reasons – the pity remark was House’s). He advises House to talk with Cuddy.

House: Absolutely.

Taub and Thirteen are checking the POtW’s apartment and Thirteen wonders if because the patient is two people, we’re all really two people. Taub, however, wants to know more about the glitch that’s going on between Cameron and Chase. (apparently he has no idea – Thirteen, however, gives him an idea)

Thirteen: It’s always a sad thing when sperm comes between two people.

They find mold in his bathroom from the steam buildup and Thirteen takes a sample.

Taub approaches Chase at the cafeteria and talks to him about the situation. Chase tells Taub that it’s all about how Cameron won’t commit, how she’s already planning for a failed relationship. Taub, however, has some thoughts on that, of course…

Taub: Did you know that male fruit flies have toxic chemicals in their seminal fluid that inhibit the sperm of other males?

And with that, Chase walks off.

House is in Cuddy’s office playing with…something or other. He tells Cuddy that Wilson says that they have to talk.

Cuddy: We talked.
House: I agree. This has clearly gone past the talking stage.

As he walks out he’s shooting what looks like video or a digital camera (a weird one) at her and it’s making beeping sounds.

The POtW’s GF is visiting him and has brought tons of stuff for him. He tells her that she didn’t need to, and she admits that she’s trying too hard and is trying to get his other side to like her. Thirteen brings in some antinausea meds and the girlfriend goes to say goodbye – when she does the POtW’s left hand smacks her across the face – hard! He apologizes and she walks out. He tries to chase after her but he falls when he gets out of bed and says that he can’t walk.

The ducklings are diagnosing and House is still playing with the lipstick tube. House wonders if the cancer cells are connecting the left and right brain and building a bridge that’s half built. Foreman says that they can test for that.

In Wilson’s office, House dumps to pictures of Cuddy on his desk and says that it’s proof. They’re thermal imaging photos and more heated spots occur in Cuddy’s body after she talks to House than were there before. House knows that she lies to him, either the night before or today when she told him to stay impersonal. Wilson, however, is worried that he’s going to mess it up and says so.

Wilson: If this matters to you, please, for once in your life, be an adult.

Foreman Thirteen and Taub are testing the patient with three screens – each one is different, he has to stay focused on the middle screen and words will pop up on either side. His left brain is really weird and isn’t seeing the words but is able to draw them or to do them. This means that the sides of the brain aren’t connecting like House thought. The patient, however, starts itching on his chest and House goes in and notices that he has ammonia breath. He pulls the patient’s shirt aside and sees red marks. The liver is failing.

Wilson is in with Cuddy and she tells him that she’s surprised that he hasn’t said anything about she and House. Wilson says that there’s nothing to talk about. House walks in when they’re talking and looks at Wilson. He asks permission to do the liver biopsy and Cuddy gives it, of course, because it’s not a crazy test, but she accuses him of wasting her time. He puts down his coffee cup, right next to hers (oh I saw that one coming) and they get into each other’s faces. She tells him to do clinic duty and he says he’s blowing off his clinic hours.

Cuddy: Really? Let’s see how that goes. Still not angry – try again later.

He picks up a coffee cup – not his, hers, and walks off.

In the patient’s room Thirteen is trying to do an ultrasound and the left hand is preventing it. The patient asks if they can get music in the room (I’m guessing the hand likes music).

Wilson wonders if House is using the relationship with Cuddy as a substitute for his meds, as he should be in more pain than he’s currently in – that the endorphins are keeping the pain away. House says that he knows that Wilson is dying to know what he found in Cuddy’s coffee cup. It was oxytocin, the chemical that’s found during emotional bonding.

House: Her lips say no, her hormones say “oh my god yes more!”

House says that he needs to make her lose her temper to help her to realize that there’s more there than she’s letting herself see.

Wilson: And then what happens, she admits everything and falls into your arms?
House: That’s outcome one. Outcome two, she kills me. I think it’s 50/50 right now.

Wilson thinks it’s great that House is committing himself to someone, even in this childish way, but wonders if House really wants the relationship to succeed. House, however, notices an old guy standing in his doorway before he can say anything else. The patient’s name is Eugene Schwartz and that Cuddy has sent him up from the clinic.

House: She sent him – that’s gotta mean something.
Wilson: I’ll go get my decoder ring.

Eugene tells House that he squawks like a parrot. He says that it started when he was doing some woodworking – a huge squawk came out. House starts to leave his office and Eugene follows.

Meanwhile in the patient’s room, music is blaring and his left hand is playing air guitar, that it loves to play air guitar. Thirteen suddenly notices splinter hemorrhaging under his nails and the patient lurches up and vomits blood.

In the locker room, where House admits that he’s hiding from clinic duty, they’re discussing the patient. The heart is fine and all of their tests are so far fine. The patient had been sweaty and Thirteen wonders if it’s a symptom – now House wants them to check for pancreatic cancer and tells them to try Led Zepplin.

In Cuddy’s office two men are telling Cuddy how grateful they were for the way one of them was treated during his appendicitis – apparently they’re giving her a very large check. In walks Eugene with a bag for Cuddy – it’s a stool sample that House told him to bring to Cuddy!

In the POtW’s room he’s getting ready to leave – his girlfriend says that she’s not coming back and he’s trying to leave. The right brain, however (left hand) won’t let him leave and knows that he needs treatment – it keeps unbuttoning his shirt.

Cameron shows up in House’s office while he’s staring at Cuddy’s coffee cup. Cameron is trying to bounce her ideas off of House about Chase. House tells her that the only way she’s going to succeed is to tell Chase that she’ll destroy her husband’s sperm. She tells House that she has doubts, that it’s normal.

Cameron: I don’t expect my condo to burn down but I still have fire insurance!

Their discussion, however, is interrupted when Taub tells House that the patient is trying to leave. Before he walks out he has a parting shot for Cameron.

House: If your condo rules don’t let you buy insurance, do you go homeless?

Out of the office, however, House heads away from the patient’s room. He says that they need to connect the two parts of the brain and to get them friends – and he asks Wilson for his help.

The POtW’s in the CT scanner and Wilson is talking to him. He tells the patient to try to communicate with the right brain. The right side has no control and must be frustrated – the left side is the dominate side. Wilson asks him what he does when he goes grocery shopping. He says that he gets up, puts his jacket on, and goes to the store. Wilson says that it must be frustrating because the right brain has no idea why they’re going anywhere, and suggests that he actually says, out loud, what he’s doing. The POtW thinks he’s crazy but the brain, on the scanner, apparently likes what Wilson’s saying.

House’s phone rings and it’s Eugene again – he was buying flowers for his wife and he squawked. Dr. Cuddy gave him House’s number and told him to call any time. House, however, doesn’t seem to want to play.

House: I’m sorry but I’m about to lose you because I’m about to drive into a tunnel, in a canyon, on an airplane, while hanging up the phone.

And he hangs it up. House swears that the patient is having pancreatic cancer and wants them to open up the patient and to use scorpion venom to paint the cancer so that they could find it. The risk of clotting, however, is high, and they say that the clot may go to the brain and kill him.

Taub: Or one of him. The clot in his brain could kill one of them without affecting the other.
Foreman: He might actually be okay with that.

And the surgery is on – Chase paints the liver with the venom and they start to watch it under a UV light. Foreman tells Chase that he’s sorry about him and Cameron and who should be at the door but Cameron. Chase excuses himself and goes out to talk to Cameron.

Cameron: I don’t want to be homeless.

She tells him that she wants to marry Chase and that she got the forms to destroy the sperm. Chase, however, has to run back into the surgery before he can hug Cameron – he notices how she looks when she walks off.

Wilson and House are hanging out on the balcony and Wilson wonders if House really wants the relationship with Cuddy or if it’s just another challenge. They watch as Cuddy comes out of the clinic area with a half naked pirate who is apologizing profusely – a stripper? She escorts him out and walks back. House asks Wilson is she looks angry and then says “oh no” and walks off.

Back in surgery the BP is dropping even more and House is in the observation room and says that they weren’t looking up at the right time – that there’s an arrhythmia in the heart but that it’s intermittent which is why they didn’t see it before. The echo the heart and, sure enough, there’s the arrhythmia. House tells them to get the BP under control and that they have to figure out what damaged his heart before it goes after something he really needs.

They’re trying to figure out why the heart is throwing out so many clots and Thirteen wonders if it’s Cushings, so House tells them to go test for it. As they’re drawing blood the girlfriend comes back because she wants to talk to the doctors. She tells them that she noticed that his hand was angry with the deodorant, and that’s when the hand smacked her too. Suddenly the hand is trying to touch and caress the girlfriend – apparently the right brain is grateful!

House goes into Wilson’s office and points out that the coffee cup has no lipstick on it, and if Cuddy was drinking out of it there should be lipstick. Wilson asks him a question:

Wilson: Do you want to be the man with the answers or do you want to be the man with Cuddy?
House: (confused) What do I do?
Wilson: You make her angry.

He says that he’s serious, and that House has been pulling his punches with the pranks because he’s scared.

Wilson: Now go terrorize her.

In the locker room Chase finds Cameron and asks if she really wants to destroy the sperm. He’s finally figured out that she doesn’t have doubts, but that she doesn’t want to kill the only thing she has left of her husband. She starts crying. He tells her to not destroy the sperm and she cries more – and tells him that she has trouble giving things up, like the fact that she never canceled any of their wedding plans.

House is on the balcony in the lobby and is banging his cane on the banister and says that he has an announcement.

House: As you go about your day, I want you to know that I slept with Lisa Cuddy.

Cuddy comes out of her office and one of the nurses whispers to her what he said. She looks at him furious as he heads for the elevator, and she’s waiting.

She rushes after House who is in the hallway.

Cuddy: This is beyond asshood. You have the luxury of not caring about your image. I do not. I can permit a lot of crap, but an employee shouting about his sexual exploits, with me, no. That is zero tolerance. So congratulations House, I am angry.

House: I was wondering if we should move in together.

Cuddy starts laughing.

Cuddy: You’re fired.

And she walks away.

Eugene is in House’s doorway and tells him that he wouldn’t worry about it – he thinks she likes him. House tells Eugene that he has acid reflux and gives him a prescription for meds. House notices, however, that Eugene moves his belt, and he says that he always moves his belt because it hurts him. House pushes on the belly and says that it’s a tumor, which is why pancreatic cancer was on his mind for the POtW.

Taub comes through the elevator and tells House that the special deodorant that the patient uses has a high amount of propylene glycol, the same thing that made a kid in Singapore get a heart condition and seizures. He says that the patient may never have needed the split brain surgery he got.

House: I’m sure he will half appreciate the irony.

He tells Taub to take Eugene for a pancreatic scan and to stay with him.

House goes into Cuddy’s office and asks if she’s just overreacting about the other night. She tells House that they never could have a personal relationship. He’s blinking and realizes that she’s been overreacting to something he said. He remembers back last week when he asked for her help – how he said “Go suckle your little bastard child”. Cuddy walked out – she didn’t help him.

He looks confused (in the now) and says that’s not what happened – that he told her he needed her and she helped him. He reaches into his pocket for the lipstick and it’s not lipstick but a bottle of hydrocodone. He’s back in his bathroom from last week but Cuddy, who was there, fades away, and he’s there twirling his pills and taking one. Cuddy’s looking into House’s eyes, and all of the things he remembers about having sex with Cuddy never happened – he’s remembering both versions – the fake lipstick, the real vicodin. Amber whispers in his ear.

Amber: So, this is the story you made up about who you are. It’s a nice one.

KUTNER IS THERE!

Kutner: Too bad it isn’t true.

House: No. I’m not okay.

Cuddy and House go into Wilson’s office and everyone looks grim.

We’re not at Chase and Cameron’s wedding day – Cameron looks beautiful in her gown and Chase, of course, looks HAWT (sorry – another girly moment). House is in a car and is being driven by Wilson. Cuddy’s at the wedding with her daughter and House and Wilson are driving up to some huge building. Chase and Cameron exchange rings and House gives all his personal belongings to Wilson. He takes his suitcase and his cane from the car and head to the building. Chase and Cameron kiss (that had to have been weird) as House goes into the building with Wilson watching on. It’s Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital and House is escorted in by a doctor and a few other staff members into the building with Wilson left standing in the middle of the road, watching.

Wow. Wow wow wow! What did you guys think of the season finale?! Kutner back on House - briefly - Amber back (or not gone) - House in a psychiatric hospital! What do you think will happen next season?!

House and the team are intrigued by Scott (Ashton Holmes), a man whose left brain and right brain operate independently, leaving him with two distinct personalities and no control over some of his actions. As the two sides of Scott’s brain struggle for dominance, his warring personalities make it increasingly difficult for the team to figure out what is causing the unique problem. The team is forced to use some unusual methods to get him to cooperate with their necessary testing. Meanwhile, when House refuses to make an appearance in the clinic, Cuddy takes an unconventional approach to force House to make up the time with a very particular patient (guest star Carl Reiner).

We’re at the ballet! How…cultured of House! Well, House isn’t there, but a bunch of dancers are apparently rehearsing. The main male dancer seems to be having a problem, saying it’s too fast and the producers say that his back isn’t 100%. The main female ballerina is apparently with the main male dancer and they talk a bit during the dance – he lifts her up in the air and it goes fine…until he screams in pain and they both fall to the stage. She can’t breathe and is gasping for breath as they yell to “call a doctor”.

In House’s apartment Amber is playing the ukulele while House sits on the couch eating cereal. She tells House that he’s not completely rational. There’s a knock on the door and it’s Foreman – they have a case and he tells House that Cuddy’s going to fire him if he doesn’t get into work. Amber convinces him to go into work.

The ducklings and House are diagnosing the POtW – she can’t breathe well even on room oxygen. He’s ignoring Amber, who is constantly telling him that the dancer is dehydrated. He finally listens after she pushes her way around and they decide to go buff up the patient and to give her antibiotics. Amber raises her hand for a high five.

Amber: We’re like Magic and Kareem!

The rest is below the cut!

House, however, walks past her. Apparently he’s trying to ignore her.

Wilson’s in his office telling a patient he has kidney cancer and House busts in. He tells Wilson that he’s hallucinating and Wilson walks into the hallway with House. House asks Wilson to step in during his differentials and that he thinks he has sleep apnea. He tells Wilson that he’s hallucinating and seeing Kutner. Wilson says he’ll help House.

Cameron and Chase are having dinner in their apartment and Cameron bursts out and says that she has her dead husbands sperm – that they’d frozen some before he passed away. It’s her way of telling Chase that she wants some of his sperm too, I believe.

Wilson and House are in the sleep lab and House is all set up to be monitored for sleep apnea, even though Amber says that they both know he doesn’t have sleep apnea. The next morning he goes to Wilson and, apparently, nothing has changed even though he slept good.

Foreman tells House that the patient is not responding to antibiotics and he comes up with a test that is something like waterboarding (still have no idea what the actual test is). He looks to Wilson to see if the idea is one he’d usually have, and Wilson gives him the go ahead. Once Foreman leaves he hands Wilson a list of things that he thinks he may have – at the top of the list:

<del datetime="2009-05-05T02:54:26+00:00">Sleep Apnea</del>
Infection
Trauma
M.S.
Schizophrenia
Pills

They decide to use antibiotics to see if he’s got an infection and Wilson is going to inject him.

Taub and Foreman are with the patient – they’re basically giving her a trach and are injecting water into her lungs – WOW! Definitely a radical house-like treatment! Taub slips and a handful of her skin comes off in his hands.

After commercial the patient is in a clean room and a gloved and gowned Taub is placing on artificial skin, but her normal skin is falling off faster than they can replace it. She’s lost 80% of her skin. House tells them that maybe the antibiotics caused a reaction and wants swabs of her old skin to confirm the reaction. Toxic epidermal necrosis

He goes to find Wilson and tells him about the ballerina. He tells Wilson that he feels guilty, and that maybe it points to the limbic part of his brain. That he has to apologize – if he feels better it means nothing and it was an emotion, if he doesn’t, his limbic brain is shot.

House goes into the patient’s room and apologizes to them for causing her pain. Apparently, afterwards, he feels nothing. He runs into Foreman in the hallway.

Foreman: Why were you talking to the patient?
House: I think skinless women are hot.

House has an idea as to how to check her liver and before he tells Foreman to do it he checks with Wilson – Foreman notices but goes off anyway. House says that his problem has to be MS, and apparently they’re off to do a spinal tap.

Chase and Foreman are doing the procedure to check the patient’s liver and Chase clarifies that Cameron wants Chase to allow her to hang onto her husband’s sperm. Foreman tells him to let her keep the sperm, because if he doesn’t, and they break up, he’s the one who killed her kids. The patient suddenly starts to crash.

The liver biopsy was negative but they’re wondering what happened with the heart. And Foreman is wondering why Wilson is still there and figures that House doesn’t trust himself. He tells Wilson to get out. Amber puts her arm on the table and has a scalpel. She says that it’s not MS, which leaves mental illness and detox – and with mental illness he wouldn’t be able to practice medicine and neither would he if he had to detox and have a great deal of pain. She then stabs the scalpel into her arm and starts to cut herself.

House tells them, as for the patient, to stop the patient’s heart to MRI her. It’s dangerous, as they need 4 minutes to MRI and after 3 minutes brain damage is possible.

House goes into the hallway and tells Wilson what they’re doing, and how he thinks it was “her” idea, and how the antibiotics were “her” idea. The slip leads him to tell Wilson that it’s Amber that he’s seeing, not Kutner.

Wilson: Your subconscious picked my dead girlfriend?
House: Yeah, the irrational part of my brain works like the rational part of yours.

He asks Wilson if he’s being too radical for the patient’s treatment, and Wilson says it’s on the upper end of his radical-ness, but that it’s not too bad for a House treatment. The LP was negative for MS and he says that the vicodin levels are way too high. That the vicodin could cause:

Wilson: Heart attack, stroke, death, or worse.
House: Worse? Double death?

Wilson says he’ll make some calls to get House into rehab.

The patient is getting read to go into the MRI and Chase is there to make her dead. He shocks her and she goes into the machine with no heartbeat.

House calls Wilson and says that insulin shock could work to help him. He says that he doesn’t think that the pills are causing a problem because he’s been taking vicodin for years and hasn’t ever had a reaction like this – he has no symptoms of overdose. So he wants to go into insulin shock.

Wilson: House, I’ll be up there in five minutes and we can discuss this. (he’s in the cafeteria)
House: Actually, if you can be up here in two, that’d be helpful.
Wilson: Why?
House: Because I’m about to put myself into insulin shock.

Wilson goes running.

The ducklings are checking the patient’s heart and they can’t find anything wrong until shortly after three minutes and they find a shadow in her heart. Chase pulls her out before they get a good shot of it and starts to restart her heart.

House puts himself into insulin shock and Amber is on the floor crying a bit. House thinks she’s only crying because she knows it’s going to work. House starts convulsing and falls to the floor as Wilson rushes in.

House is laid up on a stretcher and Wilson is watching over him. He wakes up and Wilson is pissed. House looks around for Amber but can’t find her. As House goes to leave his beeper goes off. They’re arguing about the shadow that they saw and Chase is fighting about how he tried to save her life.

House: Any brain damage?
Thirteen: All signs are fine.
House: Looks like you had more time.

House is watching the couple and says that the boyfriend is too devoted, and that gonorrhea fits, that it went to her heart and stuck in her heart, which would make it look like a shadow. He tells them to check the partner.

Mmmmbop goes off on House’s ringtone and Foreman says that the guy does have gonorrhea but that he says he didn’t have it before – that she’d given it to him. He’s stopped hanging out in her room and House deduces that he’d seen guilt in the guy, and that he was wrong – he’d been lucky, not right. He turns and looks and there’s Amber, singing on the stage of the restaurant he’s in. He calls Wilson to come get him.

(I FIGURED IT OUT! He’s seeing Amber because he’s lost faith in his abilities – he’s questioning himself and that’s why he’s seeing her. Although why he chose HER, I have no idea, but that’s why he’s seeing her. I think…)

In the car, Wilson says that he knows a nice detox facility in Philadelphia. House says “thanks”. In the back seat, Amber is smiling. House is packing and Wilson answers the phone. Foreman says that the patient has gone septic and that they can’t remove the spot on her heart because she’s septic. Wilson tells Foreman that House is off the case and hangs up the phone.

House wonders why he doesn’t feel scared. Amber tells him that they’ve always known how to cheat in rehab and House tells Wilson that it won’t work. He walks out of his apartment.

The ducklings are watching over the girl and are trying to diagnose her. They decide to use dopamine to help cure her, even though they know her heart can’t take dopamine.

In Cuddy’s office, House walks in. He tells her that he quits. She obviously doesn’t believe him. She starts to walk off and House tells her that he’s hallucinating. He tells her that he’ll cheat if he goes to detox, but that Cuddy could help him to detox.

House: I need you.

She says that she’ll call her babysitter. (she was late to head home).

They’re doing the patient’s surgery and have removed the abscess. They find, however, that her fingers and toes are turning black.

In House’s apartment he’s throwing up and Cuddy is there. He goes for his stash and it’s gone. Cuddy’s removed it all. He tells Cuddy that there’s more in his shoes in the closet, even though he’s shaking and in tons of pain. Cuddy grabs his hand and sits with him.

The patient is on the table and is waking up. Chase tells her that the dopamine caused the blood vessels on her heart and feet to shut down and they’ve died. They need to amputate her hands and feet. She says no.

The ducklings are trying to figure out how to get her better.

Chase: Technically if she dies, it’s because House had some personal crap to work through and we weren’t smart enough to get the answer.

They get back to diagnosing.

House is in the bathroom throwing up – he looks on the floor and sees a pill that has fallen on the floor. Amber calls him pathetic. House crawls across the bathroom for the pill.

Amber: Now this is interesting. If you take the pill, you don’t deserve her. If you secretly take the pill, you don’t deserve anyone.

House reaches for it but Cuddy runs in and grabs it, throwing it into the toilet and flushing it.

The patient is under once again and Taub is trying something strange to try to get her hands back – phasodialators (not quite sure I got that right) apparently it might be wrking.

House is laying on his couch and he asks Cuddy to stop breathing. House tells Cuddy that she’s only there because he’s the hospitals biggest asset. She says that she hasn’t lied to him in 20 years. Her lie was that she wasn’t in his endocrinology class – she audited it – because 20 years ago she thought he was an “interesting lunatic even then.”

Cuddy: I’m not here protecting hospital property.
House: We’re alone.
Cuddy: We’ve been alone all night.
House: No, I mean Amber – she’s gone.

The patient lifts her hand up and she can move it. Taub’s idea worked. She’s got her hands and feet back.

Chase is in his living room and Cameron walks in. He tells her that he can’t do it. That she has doubts and he has none. She says that she doesn’t know, and he says that he’ll wait until she does.

Cameron: I can’t know. No one knows.
Chase. I do.

In House’s apartment he’s dressed and ready for work and walking Cuddy to the door.

Cuddy: You want to kiss me, don’t you?
House: I always want to kiss you.

She gives him a little kiss – and then he backs her up to the wall and really lays one on her – yes! House and Cuddy have sex!

We start off with a teen who is wrestling and he’s deaf, as he’s talking with a female friend using sign language. His mother shows a shirt that says “deaf pride” and he signs “you’re not deaf” and she signs back “I’m proud of you – that’s close enough”. He starts wrestling and suddenly she screams and grabs his ears, walking away from the match and falling to his knees.

House wakes up in his bed to the voice of Amber. House says that he’s hallucinating because he’s got insomnia, while Amber wonders if she’s there because Kutner’s suicide made him remember how guilty he felt about Amber. House says that a decent nights sleep will cure her – and then the beeper goes off.

Amber: Guess I’ll be around a few more hours.

The ducklings approach House with the POtW and how he has started hearing banging noises. Meanwhile Amber shows up and makes a few suggestions, beginning to write on the white board. She realizes, however, that she can’t write on the board.

Amber: Damn imaginary pen.

House advises that they see if the POtW has a seizure, even though Amber reminds him that no one mentioned seeing any seizures during the meet.

House heads to Wilson’s office and asks for sleeping pills. Cameron is there with Wilson looking at a file. Amber, however, is also there and wonders why Wilson and Cameron closed the file and why Wilson is willing to give House the sleeping pills w/o bothering him.

House, however, manages to grab the file and finds a bunch of bachelor stuff in there. House’s best man doesn’t get there until the day before the wedding, so she asked Wilson to help plan the bachelor party. House, however, has other ideas.

House: There are two things I do well. Bachelor parties rank at the top.

The rest of the recap is below!

Foreman and Thirteen are doing the study on the POtW and are arguing about why the POtW refused to get cochlear implants. During the discussion the POtW loses his eyesight.

The ducklings start diagnosing and House tells them to “knock themselves out”. Something that Amber had said, which was “the limp leading the blind” is bothering him. He grabs his sleeping pills and goes into one of the clinic rooms in order to talk to Amber.

She tells him that she saw that there was an elevated c reactive protein on his chart, which is why the strobes may have caused the blindness. She says that it was a long shot. House, however, says that he doesn’t even remember the specific levels, yet Amber does. He asks her how high K2 is. She says she doesn’t know. He said that he read a book about it years ago and starts to describe the cover.

Amber: 28,251 feet.
House: Cool. An all access pass to my own brain.

She tells House to go play the kid some music.

House shows up at the kid’s room with a huge boombox on his shoulder playing rap music “fight the power!”. The kid is grinning. He puts the boombox on the kid’s chest and one of his hands on the kid’s chest. The kid says that he feels the vibration in his chest but not on his hands. House says that it’s a new symptom. He then walks over to the trash can and throws the sleeping pills.

Amber: I thought you were going to get some sleep.
House: The case just got interesting.

House and the kids try to diagnose as they’re walking. House sees Amber with three bowling pins and she says “think wrestling records”. He thinks about how the patient got pinned in his last three matches. Foreman thinks that the patient may have a specific type of brain cancer which caused his blindness and is causing these problems. Taub goes to check it out. House, however, grabs Thirteen and Foreman and they wind up at a strip club.

Foreman and Thirteen are the strip club – checking it out, I guess, and they’re talking about the bachelor party as both are oogling the girls. Foreman asks Thirteen if she knows what a Broken Cowboy is, as it was one of House’s requirements. Foreman thinks that House wants Chase to cheat at the party, while Thirteen thinks that being drunk just shows the real you. Another girl comes out and grabs onto the pole spinning upside down.

Foreman: Think she can do the Broken Cowboy?
Thirteen: God I hope so.

Taub is talking to the patient and his mother is signing for him. He tells the kid that he may be able to hear again, but the patient wants him to treat the cancer but to leave him deaf. Taub tells him that it’s not possible. The patient finally agrees to do the test. House and the crew look over the results. There is no sign of cancer. Foreman and Thirteen brought photos back from the scouting mission – House says that Thirteen isn’t allowed to go, as it’s an all-male thing, and she says that if she gets drunk enough there may be a chance she’ll make out with one of the strippers, or become one.

House/Amber: SOLD.

House wants to drill into the kid’s head but Taub says that there’s no way the patient’s mother will let them drill on a hunch. Amber, however, remembers that the kid broke his nose a few years before and that there may be an MRI from then, which would allow them to see what they needed to see.

In Wilson’s office he’s talking Chase and tells him that the main reason why he and his third wife eloped was to avoid House’s bachelor parties. House comes in with the old MRI that is three years old for Wilson to look over. House tells Chase that the bachelor party is essential to making sure that he truly wants the marriage to work. Wilson sees change in the MRI which points to the cancer again.

Wilson says that he’s not going to the bachelor party, as when he does go he winds up embarrassing himself in “some new and unexpected way”.

House: The thing with the duck was hardly unexpected.

Chase is doing the surgery on the brain and finds no cancer. Amber tells House that the kid is going to be deaf for the rest of his life. That he’s going to be having to deal with the idiot mother for his entire life and wonders if they are okay with that.

House gets on the intercom and tells Chase to put a cochlear implant in. Eventually Chase agrees.

As the kid wakes up he suddenly hears tons of things – after Chase hits some buttons. Chase tells him to try to relax and it seems like the kid is hyper-hearing. He asks what happened.

In Cuddy’s office Cuddy tells him to take it out. He said that once he’s stable he’ll take it out. While Cuddy is talking to the mother, Amber notices that the mother is sitting and isn’t hugely pissed. He looks at her and says that she’s not mad enough – that she wants him to be able to hear. She disagrees and walks off.

Cuddy wonders why House did it.

House: He’s opting into a handicap. He’s an insult to all the other gimps out there.

She says that she understand, but that Foreman is not in charge of the case.

House and Amber are walking off and House puts a Bluetooth in his ear so that he doesn’t look like an idiot. His conversation, however, doesn’t result in much.

In the office the ducklings are diagnosing and Amber is trying to figure out the name of Wilson’s stripper – the one that you could do body shots off. She thinks it’s something sweet – candy – taffy – lolly (and is eating something appropriate whenever she comes up with a new name). Foreman has an idea (hard to hear what it was over the Amber stuff) and House says that he agrees because Amber says that she agrees.

House goes into Wilson’s office and wonders why Wilson hasn’t been pissed because he put the cochlear implant into the kid’s head. Wilson says that it’s because he was nice.

In the patient’s room the patient and his mother are talking. He wants the implants out and the mother gets frustrated and says his name. He doesn’t remember ever hearing it before and asks her to say it again. She does. He looks like he’s going to cry. The mother is sitting on the bed and Taub comes in – she stands up suddenly because POtW has wet the bed.

Back in the office, House has put five different flavors of ice cream on the table and wants the docs to figure out which ice cream for the bachelor party – it’s not ice cream, it’s frozen alcohol, including vodka! Alcoholic ice cream! Wow!!

During the discussion Amber pops up and asks House if he remembers something that happened during rounds – the two start diagnosing and the rest of the crew seems to fade away as she reminds him – it was his heart. He tells them to run an EKG for four hours.

In his office Amber says that the rest of the crew started to fade away because House is getting better at focusing. Chase is heading to the office and amber notices that he looks pissed. Chase says that Cameron is not going to be happy with the party, so he needs House to kidnap him for the party. Meanwhile Amber remembers the name of the stripper who does body shots.

In the patient’s world his girlfriend is telling him that it’s a great thing that he’s got the implants. That it will open up a whole new world for him.

House is in his office downing energy drinks to stay awake. The crew says that the EKG is fine, but House and Amber swear that the arrhythmia is hiding and to put him on a treadmill. Foreman, however, disagrees with House and refuses to let his crew to do that test. House and Amber are walking and come up together with the idea of using asthma meds to help the heart beat faster so that they can see the arrhythmia.

He grabs the meds and heads to the POtW’s room only to hear him screaming. While his mother was gone he ripped out the implants.

Thirteen: So much for improving his life.
Amber: Actually, I think we just saved it.
House looks at the monitor.
House: Arrhythmia.

Foreman agrees that House was right about the blood and that he should’ve listened to him.

House: The correct answer is, I should always listen to you.

The crew goes to do a scan to make sure that the lungs aren’t infected.

House and Amber head to the morgue where House has set up a number of shots – apparently he’s trying to light the shots so that they can drink them while they’re flaming. He picks up one of the shots, says “By the power of greyskull” and accidentally drops it because it’s hot, not only catching the rest of the shots on fire but also the dead guy in the back!

House is trying to get the flames gone and Amber winds up helping him to diagnose, telling House that the patient’s symptoms all got worse with heat. The patient has MS. House tells the crew to start interferon.

Foreman is walking out of the building with Chase and Cameron and tells them that the interferon worked. Two policemen are there asking Chase if he has applied for a marriage license, and that there was a problem – his work record has expired. The police drag him off and refuse to let Cameron go along. Cameron looks at Foreman.

Cameron: Don’t let House get him in too much trouble.

Everyone is at the bachelor party, including Thirteen, and the party is started!! Wilson walks in during House’s speech

House: I knew you couldn’t stay away!
Wilson: This is my apartment!

Wilson hears someone say “JAMES!” He replies “Karamel?!” They hug.

Karamel: How’s your wife?
Wilson: We got a divorce. How’s your cat?
Karamel: Dead. How about we go have a drink?

The party is going strong but House is in the bathtub with a drink and talking to Amber. He asks what his team did to help, Amber replies that they looked good in their lab coats.

Amber: Some people work better alone, so to speak.

They convince Chase to do one last shot on Karamel and he licks up her body. He wonders if he tastes strawberries and then falls down.

Foreman knocks on the door and tells House that Chase went into anaphylactic shock and that they’re taking him to the hospital – one of the residents had an epi pen so he’s fine. House looks at Amber and almost whispers that he knew Chase was allergic to strawberries and he knew about Karamel’s body butter

House: I’m trying to kill Chase? I don’t want Cameron.
Amber: You’re not a big fan of other people’s happiness either.

The phone rings and House answers it – the POtW is dying. It’s not MS. They were wrong.

They’re walking Chase into the building and Cuddy meets the three ducklings at the door. They start trying to diagnose the patient but they aren’t sober. House goes home instead of going to the hospital – that he needs to sleep because Amber is dangerous.

Cuddy has got the ducklings there and has them all on a banana bag, trying to sober them up. Amber mentions something and House says that it’s NOT that thing. Then he hangs up. Thirteen, however, says that it would make sense because the larynx would be affected and the patient would be hoarse. They check him, however, and he’s not hoarse.

Before Foreman puts the tube back in, however, he notices that the patient has yellowed teeth. The POtW admit that he used tobacco to cut weight for wrestling (he was since moved up to a higher weight class and didn’t need to cut weight anymore). Taub was right from the beginning – it was carcoidosis.

House goes into Cuddy’s office and says that he needs sleeping pills – that he can’t get a hold of Wilson, he wasn’t answering his phone.

Cuddy: He must have left them in his pants, which he wasn’t wearing when the police found him trying to walk home, oddly from his own apartment.

Cuddy writes him the script and asks him to talk to her. He tells her that he hasn’t slept through the night since Kutner killed himself. She hands him the script and he walks off.

In the patient’s room the mother says that she is going to have the doctors put the implant back in, that it’s her call to make.

House wakes up and looks around. He washes his face and smiles, but when he turns around, there’s Amber.

Amber: Did you have a nice sleep?

There is so much good stuff on TV during this time of year! All of the great shows are gearing up for their season finales, and all of the new ones are teasing about what is going! There is lots of stuff happening over on the island of Lost, and we even had the final finale of ER. How about House?

Let’s see, we’ve got Foreman watching on while Thirteen kisses a girl (or it looks like they’re going to kiss, anyway), House drunk - this time at work, and Wilson doing shots off of a woman’s breasts?! What’s not to love?!

Screen shots and video preview below!

The case of a deaf 14 year old boy, Seth (Ryan Lane), who collapses in the middle of a wrestling match after ‘hearing’ explosions is brought to Princeton-Plainsboro, and the team faces an ethical dilemma when Seth’s mother (Clare Carey) decides to forego cochlear implants. Meanwhile, House suffers from lack of sleep, which starts to play tricks on his mind. However, House finds it is more of a help than a hindrance and Cuddy decides to pay him a visit.

There are five protesters who have chained themselves to the wheels of a huge machine. They’re protesting the coal miners digging out coal for man to use. Suddenly one of the women goes limp and the trooper tells the man that the woman has no pulse. He unchains her only to find out that she passed out because she was dehydrated. He says “we’ll be back”, but when he tries to get up he becomes disoriented and can’t stand up.

Cameron goes to see Chase and says that she has to postpone their trip so that she can pass off a case to House. She owed the doctor who has the case a favor and tells Chase that she’s got to make sure that House really takes the case and that he doesn’t throw it in the trash, but that once he’s on the case and she knows it for certain, they’ll head out on their trip.

House, however, remarks that she’s trying to step into Kutner’s shoes. She says that she’s not shoe shopping. Thirteen thinks that his illness has something to do with the fact that he’s a nutcase and always out protesting at toxic waist dumps.

Foreman: You think the guys a nutcase because he cares about the environment?
Taub: He’s a single guy in his twenties, he cares about getting his hybrid waxed by girls who care about the environment.
Foreman: See? Not a nutcase.

The rest of the recap can be found below!

Taub however thinks that he’s faking.

Cameron: If he were faking, why would he agree to be seen by the top diagnostician in the country?
House: Now who’s looking to get her hybrid waxed?

House agrees to check him out but says that Cameron has to do the test where ice water is injected into his inner ear. She does the test on the patient and gets vomited on due to it causing vertigo and nausea.

House finds Wilson – where else – in the cafeteria (how come they always meet up either in the cafeteria, in the lobby, or in Wilson’s office?) He tells Wilson about the fact that Cameron brought him a case, but that he doesn’t think she’s after him, as she and Chase are practically living together. During the discussion Wilson orders an egg-white omelet, no bacon, and whole wheat toast. House finds this intriguing and wonders if Wilson has ordered this because his new girlfriend (the one we’re all still not sure of and haven’t seen) thinks he’s getting love handles.

Wilson remarks that House is still missing Kutner, and that he’s wearing the watch Kutner gave him for Secret Santa. House says that it’s because it has five functions “including a stopwatch to time how long it takes you to ask me how I am.”

Cameron comes into the room and tells them that the ice water test is negative. Foreman suggests that maybe it was the stress of being chained up that is causing his heart to see if there are any problems.

Cameron is doing the test and the POtW remarks that he’s got the hiccups and that he’s had the hiccups for a week. Cameron is walking around in the hospital and Chase comes up to her. She says that she needs to take the case for a bit longer due to the patient’s hiccups and Chase gets a bit upset, as he’s planned their vacation. She admits that she needs to hang onto the patient for awhile longer for a reason that she can’t tell Chase and asks him to trust her. Chase says “okay”.

Walking through the hallway, Cameron tells House about the fact that the test is negative, and he admits that he’s hooked and that she can head on her vacation.

House: You’re not still hooked on me, are you?
Cameron: I care about the patient and I care about the members of your team. They’ve been through a lot lately.

House ponders if she’s there for another reason.

Cameron: Think what you want – that I’m here to get a job that I’m here to wrap you in swaddling clothes.
House: Problem is I think neither, cause neither makes sense. The only thing that does…doesn’t.

After an interesting look from Cameron, she heads into the ducklings nest and starts the diagnosing. Taub thinks that he may have MS so he tells Cameron to go do a spinal tap. Foreman decides to help her without telling House.

During the diagnosis, Foreman ponders himself why Cameron is hanging with the patient. She doesn’t give him any answers but does go to order a specific drug to stop the hiccups so that she can do the spinal tap, even though Foreman warns that the meds could cause cloudiness because they haven’t ruled out any neurological problems.

Chase goes to Cuddy and asks if she and House are looking to replace Kutner’s slot. Cuddy says that they’re not looking to fill the slot. He asks if she thinks Cameron is in love with House, and Cuddy says no. He asks if Cuddy’s in love with House and she definitely doesn’t answer…

House is in the doctors lounge checking out Wilson’s lunch and the POtW’s wife shows up. The POtW has never admitted that he was married. She says that she only knew that her husband was there because she’d checked his email. He’s more often in jail. House wonders why it took her so long to get there and she says it was because she had to find someone to take care of their four year old. House takes a bite of the salad with Wilson’s name on it and discovers that it’s Kale, and then finds out that it was Wilson who told her where House was (in the doctors lounge).

He goes to Cameron, who is just getting ready to start the LP (again) and says that he figured out that she’s doing a favor for Wilson. She comes back that Wilson sees House more than she does, lies better, and that he wouldn’t have to cancel a vacation to do it. They start trying to figure out what is going on with the patient when they notice that his neck is swollen. House pushes down on it…CRUNCH. Yup, that was nice. “Crunchy” House says.

The ducklings are diagnosing again and are wondering if he’s got sestemic sclerosis. House tells the other ducklings to take care of the patient and tells Cameron that he wants to see where she goes when she can’t be here.

In the clinic, Cameron is confronted by Cuddy. Cuddy asks Cameron if she’s in love with House.

Cameron: You are not concerned with me. You’re marking your territory.

Cuddy once again slips through the slippery “how I feel” issue and tells her that she’s good with Chase and to not mess it up.

Back in the POtW’s room, his wife is confronting him about how he keeps protesting. She asks him if she and his son aren’t important to him, but he asks why they should be the only important ones – why his son is more important than all of the other kids in the world. And how he’ll need to drink clean water and breathe clean air – that he’s doing the protesting for him too.

A knock is on Wilson’s door and it’s House. Wilson basically invites House to search his kitchen. House says that Wilson’s medical records are clean, there are no girls around, and he’s not getting fatter, so it’s Kutner.

Wilson: Oh that’s brilliant – Kutner was a wake up call that if I didn’t eat healthier I might kill myself.

Wilson pulls out ice cream, bacon, and a back of chips. House gets a phone call after he shows him the fattening food and it’s the POtW’s room – the patient is screaming into the cell phone. He’s in excruciating pain in his lower legs. House tells them to give him antibiotics and that he may have had an infection that flared up. He sits down next to Wilson, hangs the phone up, and opens the bag of chips, offering Wilson one. Wilson doesn’t take it and House eats it in front of him.

They do a bone scan on his left and so far haven’t found anything wrong yet. She asks Taub if he and his wife talk much, and he remarks that men don’t talk as much and that if she dates men, that’s what she needs to get used to. On the screen they notice POtW’s femur is broken.

Thirteen: That’s impossible – it’s the hardest bone in the body.
Taub: And he broke it laying in bed.

The ducklings are diagnosing again and they wonder if the patient has cancer. He tells them to get Chase to fix the leg and then to blast the patient with chemo. Foreman interrupts the surgery and asks Chase to do a bone biopsy. During their conversation he informs Chase that Cameron isn’t on the case anymore.

House tracks down Cameron in the ER and says that he thinks that she and Chase are over, which is why she’s not staying at home and is staying at the ER. She tells House that she found a ring and that Chase is going to propose to her, but that she feels that he’s going to propose because of Kutner, and how they’re all a little freaked out right now. She doesn’t want him to propose because he’s freaked out.

House is back in the clinic!! A woman has a rash all over her chest and her breast is really tender. The husband is the one telling House all of the issues that is going wrong with his wife. Cuddy interrupts House and asks what’s up with Cameron. He tells her that she doesn’t want back on the case or back on him, and she says “okay” – which makes House suspicious because she obviously wanted to know the answer to one of those questions, but she disappears when the patient asks a question.

House diagnoses the patient with the rash – she’s got a rash from being in a crowded hot tub with someone other than her husband.

Foreman goes to check on the POtW post-op and finds that he’s bleeding a lot from the wounds, which are supposed to be closed, and is actually bleeding out.

The ducklings are diagnosing and House tells them that he’s got cancer and to prep him for total body irradiation. Taub, however, says that they should make his cancer bigger, that they should use a medication to make the cancer grow larger. House agrees.

House walks into Wilson’s office (Wilson is eating carrots) and says that he can’t figure out what’s going on. How he missed why Cameron was avoiding her vacation, and how Taub came up with an idea he should have come up with. Wilson says that he should be confused, as Kutner’s just died and it makes sense to be off of his game.

In the POtW’s room, they tell the wife what’s going on and their plan and she’s flipping out. The patient, however, is calm and says that he understood the risks when he was around the “bad stuff” and that he wants his life to mean something – right before he goes into cardiac arrest.

In the cafeteria Chase finds Cameron. Chase is getting upset about how Cameron is avoiding him and their vacation and how she’s not telling him what’s going on. She tells him that she needs a little more time and he shakes his head and says no.

Cameron: This has nothing to do with House.
Chase: This has nothing to do with me anymore either. Let me know when I can come pick up my things.

Diagnosing again and House seems to have no idea what is going wrong with the patient. He tells them to open the patient up and put in a defibrillator, which is risky as they don’t have a diagnosis. House finds Wilson and starts trying to diagnose the patient. Wilson is in front of a candy machine and eventually chooses gummy bears. Which House says that Wilson doesn’t like and which House doesn’t like either. Then he grins.

House: You manipulative bitch.

He figures out that Wilson was screwing with him by eating food that House doesn’t care for and doesn’t want to eat and Wilson agrees, and that he screwed with him so that he could get back to normal after Kutner died. House grins again.

House: You manipulative bitch.

He then gets the “ah ha” moment and heads to the POtW’s room. House discovers that the patient has an infection from the thorn on the rose that he bought for his wife when he missed a date of theirs, even though he swore he was never going to buy flowers.

House finds Cameron in the clinic and tells her not to try to dump Chase by dumping cases on House.

Cameron: I told you I didn’t want to dump Chase.
House: Absolutely – you wanted him to dump you. Totally different.

Cameron goes to find Chase in the locker room and tells him that she’d found the ring. Crying, she asks him to propose to her. He gets down on one knee and doesn’t even say anything – she says yes.

The show ends with some vignettes – the wife leaving the POtW, Cameron and Chase telling Cuddy and her smiling – Wilson and House sharing a burger.

House is playing the piano in a snappy tune when he suddenly goes slack with shock.

“Solved another case. Caught Wilson. Guess you’re mojo’s not gone after all.”

It’s AMBER!!!

So what do you guys think of this episode?!

Before I get into the sad “why did Kutner have to die” stuff again (and trust me, those are the main keywords bringing people to this blog all day for the last few days), I’ve got to show you this. This is an April Fools joke played on the House cast this year, found by a good friend of mine from “down unda”, Jaime.

Behold - the Endless Elevator April Fools prank…

I love Hugh’s face during this!! And even Omar is hilarious!

For a recent interview with Kal about leaving House, click below -

Were you taken aback at all when they told you they were going to kill you off?
Kal Penn: Obviously, yeah. I mean, you’re connected to the character you play, and I loved playing Kutner, so there’s a little bit of shock and loss — more than a little bit of shock and loss — when I found that out also. So yeah. I was probably as shocked as the audience was when I first found out.

When exactly did you find out Kutner was going to kill himself?
KP: I think I found out when we were shooting episode 17 or maybe halfway through 18, and the first thing I asked David Shore was ‘Do you want me to change anything? Do you want this to be informed that he’s struggling with something?’ And the answer was you know — not really. This is something that comes out of left field in episode 20, and we don’t want to lead anyone on and we don’t want to mislead anyone, it just is what it is and there’s no explanation for it.

Were those your legs [when Foreman and Thirteen found Kutner]?
KP: They were, yeah.

Can you talk about your decision to leave the show and how long this has been in the works?
KP: Growing up I always had two interests and two passions, one being public service and the other being arts and acting, so it’s always been on my mind, I always try to engage in different public service projects, and in the last 18 months having had the opportunity to serve on the Obama campaign, I certainly started thinking about that possibility, and then when that opportunity came up I went to David and Katie and sort of talked about it. It is a little insane because this was an incredible show to have been a part of — there were certainly no problems — if anything I was having a great time. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the writers and other actors and obviously David and Katie, so it was tough all around. The word I still use to describe it is bittersweet.

What exactly is the new job?
KP: The job itself is that I will be an associate director in the White House Office of Public Liaison, and what the OPL does is similar in a sense to what I was doing on the campaign. What they try and do is take the administration itself out of Washington, so they go into communities across the country, continue the sorts of dialogue people had started during the campaign and basically ensure that a bunch of citizens’ views about their elected officials, about their government are all happening and that they’re working effectively. Make sure that a lot of these new voices that have emerged — especially during the campaign season — are brought to the table — Democrats, Republicans, everyone in between - and to build those relationships and kind of embody the types of changes that President Obama had run on.

Just to clarify — you did talk to the President about this?
KP: Yes, we discussed it briefly.

Does this mean no more “Harold & Kumar” movies?
KP: [Laughs] That’s probably true, yeah.

Do you have any plans to run for office some day?
KP: [Laughs] No.

Does the job allow for any acting projects during your tenure at all?
KP: I won’t be acting while I’m working at the White House, no. There’s no set time limit — I definitely intend to go out there for at least a year or two and figure it out. So we’ll see. I’m certainly not retiring. I’m not packing up and saying, ‘I’m leaving Hollywood’ or anything, it’s just pursuing another passion right now.

Was it really a suicide for sure, going forward?
Katie Jacobs: Oh, it was a suicide. It was a suicide.

Why have Kutner kill himself, instead of sending the character off another way?
David Shore: I guess obviously stirring the pot brings something to any show. Look, Kal came to us with his opportunities and we were very excited for him, but it created a creative problem for us. I’m very happy with the way it worked out. It gave us an opportunity to do something unexpected, and what’s fascinating about it is it’s a question that House can’t answer, and he’s the man who has the answers to everything. And it’s just so unexpected for the Kutner character and that was what was really exciting about it — the unexpected nature of it, and the fact that there are no simple answers, and nothing that House can figure out.

Will someone be brought in to replace Kutner?
KJ: There is no replacement for Kutner.

Did you consider any other ways to have the character leave?
DS: We considered many ways to have the character leave. Ultimately this was the story that allowed us to really have the greatest impact on House in particular. There’s an impact on everybody, but in particular the man who craves answers not having an answer. That is what really excited us about this story.

Everyone is wondering why Kutner died on House last night. Everyone knew that the show needed something drastic in order to bring the show to the attention of the world again, and we all knew that one of the main characters was going to die, but why was it Kutner?

I might have the answer to that, thanks to a little internet-digger of a best friend (thanks Danni!)

In an interview with the Huffington Post, it’s revealed that Kal Penn is leaves House so that he can work in the White House!

I understand it was your decision to leave House. True?

KAL PENN: Yes. I was incredibly honored a couple of months ago to get the opportunity to go work in the White House. I got to know the President and some of the staff during the campaign and had expressed interest in working there, so I’m going to be the associate director in the White House office of public liaison. They do outreach with the American public and with different organizations. They’re basically the front door of the White House. They take out all of the red tape that falls between the general public and the White House. It’s similar to what I was doing on the campaign.

Safe to say you’re taking a huge pay cut?

PENN: Oh, yeah. There’s not a lot of financial reward in these jobs. But, obviously, the opportunity to serve in a capacity like this is an incredible honor.

How long has this been in the works?

PENN: I’ve been thinking about [moving into politics] for a while. I love what I do as an actor. I couldn’t love it more. But probably from the time I was a kid, I really enjoyed that balance between the arts and public service. I went to a performing arts high school, but I still took a bunch of those dorky political science classes. It’s probably because of the value system my grandparents instilled in me. They marched with Gandhi in the Indian independence movement, and that was always in the back of my head. So the past couple of years I thought about it a little more. And in ‘06 I started this international studies program at Stanford, where they actually let you do most of the course work online. So it was something I could do while I was acting. And I thought this might be the right time to go off and do something else.

Family is walking away from a man who looks like he’s dying (It’s Meatloaf – all of a sudden ‘I would do anything for love’ is ringing in my head.) He tells his wife that he was selfish and that he never gave her the trips and things that she wanted. He says that he’s ready and looks like he’s dying, but suddenly the wife can’t breathe and starts choking. He gathers the strength and yells for a nurse to help his wife.

House gets the chart and wonders where Kutner and 13 are – Taub tells him that Thirteen is busy with a patient and that Kutner’s dog is sick and that he’ll be in by lunch. House wonders if Taub is covering for Kutner. We find out that the POtW’s husband (herefore called Meatloaf) is dying of lung cancer. The patient wants to be released to go back to her husband, Eddie. Taub says that he has an idea.

He wheels Meatloaf into his wife’s room and tells the wife that now they can focus on making her better.

House is back on clinic duty! In front of him is a little girl who is dressed up in pageant wear. The mother is worried about the girl – she’s staring into space and isn’t paying attention.

House: Well I can cure her, but it’s going to cost you $3.25. Well I’m not going to give you my coffee for free. (he hands the cup to the little girl). Think if it as sober juice.
The Mother: She’s drunk?

The daughter had been sneaking into the bathroom and using her mother’s mouthwash.

House: Did you spit it out?
Little Girl: Mommy doesn’t. (HA!)

Foreman tells House that the patient’s treatment worked and that she can be released. House notices that Kutner still isn’t there and asks the crew to find out what or who he’s doing and to get him to work. As House leaves the crew gets beeped about their patient, Charlotte (POtW). She’s unable to breathe again. Taub goes into her room and Meatloaf is suddenly looking a heck of a lot stronger, sitting up on his own.

Foreman and Thirteen go to Kutner’s apartment and Thirteen has a key that she opens the door with. They start wandering around and Thirteen spies Kutner laying on the floor in his bedroom, a gun nearby! Foreman calls 911 and says that there is a gunshot wound to the left temple. A huge pool of blood is on the floor and the two start doing CPR (behind a wall – we can only see his legs). Thirteen sits back, blood on her face and all over her from the pool of blood.

Thirteen: He’s cold. Eric….

Oh My God! You think that’s something, you haven’t seen anything yet - the rest of the recap below!

After commercial we’re back to the ducklings (minus one) and House. Thirteen has had a shower and House is rubbing his neck.

House: He didn’t say anything…to any of you? Family problems? Bad relationship? Financial pressures?

Thirteen swears that Kutner didn’t reach out to the rest of them. Foreman believes that they missed something. Taub? Well…

Taub: Killing yourself also kills all other options. Makes Kutner an idiot. So pity, yes, but guilt, no.

Taub wants to focus on the patient. Foreman thinks about passing the POtW’s file off, but house thinks they should keep it because they need to work.

Cuddy shows up when they start diagnosing. She tells them that she’s hired a grief counselor and that they’re allotted time off, which she’s sure none of them will take advantage of. House tells the crew to start the POtW on meds and walks to his office, Cuddy following him.

He tells Cuddy that Wilson has been leaving him alone, and he thinks it’s because Wilson thinks he’ll work through it better alone.

Cuddy: I’m sorry for your loss.
House: Thanks. It’s not my loss.
Cuddy: Than I’m sorry you don’t think it is.

Foreman and Thirteen tell House that Taub is giving treatment, but that they would like to go see Kutner’s parents. (his adoptive parents – his biological parents were killed when he was young). House says that he’ll join them.

Taub is giving treatment to the POtW and she’s in pain. Meatloaf tells her to close her eyes and starts having her envision what it’s like to finally go to Rio (where she’s always wanted to go). She says she doesn’t want to go without him. He tells her that he wants her to go. Taub tells Meatloaf that he’d like to run a test on him, as he’s sitting up and looks strong.

At Kutner’s parents house, his parents are showing Thirteen, House, and Foreman pictures of him as a young child. She asks them if they had any idea what happened, but Thirteen and Foreman said that they had no idea. House, however, starts saying that he thinks that Kutner didn’t feel like he fit in. That being thrust into a white household and given an Anglo name caused things to get worse. (even though the parents are insisting that Kutner came up with the desire to want their last name on his own). That his pain got buried deeper until finally he put a bullet…

Foreman: House. Go back to the hospital.

House gets up and says that he’s sorry about Kutner, then leaves.

Back at the hospital, Taub tells House that the meds had no effect on the wife, but that the husband is still improving. That maybe he’s going into remission. House remarks that Taub hasn’t asked about the visit with the Kutners, and he assures House that he knows House would have told him if there was anything important.

Taub: I don’t think suicide is always a call for help. Sometimes you just don’t want help.
House: Good thing you got some, or you would’ve tried again and gotten it right.

House goes into the patient’s room and says that the patient is faking her recent illness, because the longer she fakes, the longer her husband will be fine. That her breathing problem was real but the recent pain isn’t. She admits to faking so that she could be close with her husband for just awhile longer and then screams out in pain. She says her leg is hurting her and they pull the sheet back to find a huge bruise showing up on her leg.

Back from commercial, House admits that he’s going through Kutner’s rolodex and is calling Kutner’s friends to try to figure out why Kutner killed himself. He goes to Cuddy and points out a police report with Kutner’s name on it. She says that it’s because he streaked at a football game in college. She tells House that he should be upset, because he pushed boundaries like House and thought like House.

House: If he thought like me, he’d have known that living in misery sucks marginally less than dying in it.

Thirteen is doing a CT scan on the POtW and asks the woman what it’s like to live with someone for 30 years. She says that it was great for her, and hopefully good for him. That she loves him in a different way than he loves her – that he didn’t really want to spend a lot of time with her.

Thirteen: Then why did you stay with him?
POtW: Because I didn’t need him to live me the way that I loved him.

She then stops talking and the monitors go off and Thirteen rushes out to help.

Taub is checking out Meatloaf (Eddie), and Meatloaf says that he’s heard of cancer patients who go into spontaneous remission. Taub looks at the ultrasound of Meatloaf’s heart and finds that the chamber walls are barely moving, which means that Meatloaf is definitely dying.

Wilson is in his office and Cuddy comes in. She tells Wilson that House needs a friend, but he says that he can’t deal with “all of this” and House too. She says that he needs a friend too. She tells him that House blamed Kutner’s parents and then walks out, leaving Wilson looking shocked.

Charlotte’s on the table and Chase is fixing her ruptured spleen. Taub is in the observatory waiting to biopsy for rheumatoid arthritis. Chase tells him that he’ll do it and tells Taub to go home. Taub replies that Charlotte isn’t Chase’s patient and Chase remarks that Kutner wasn’t his friend.

Taub: Kutner wanted to die. Charlotte doesn’t, so in a contest for my concern and interest, she wins.
Chase: Okay, either you’re a cold hearted bastard or you’re too miserable to face it. Go home and cry.

House is in Kutner’s apartment and is looking around. Wilson joins him.

Wilson: For the record, I’m uncomfortable violating a dead colleague’s dignity.
House: It’s only violating if we find something. Good to see you. (wow – House got soft there for a minute!)

House insists that Kutner was hiding and wants to figure out why. He finds a picture of Kutner with his biological parents right next to one of him with his adoptive parents, which, to House, says that he was honest about the pain, so that if it got worse he should’ve been honest with that too.

Wilson says that they’re going to handle the situation by going to a bar and drinking and talking about Kutner. House keeps walking around. He goes into the bloody bedroom and starts looking, trying to figure out what he’s missing.

Wilson says that House isn’t there because he is concerned with what happened to Kutner, but because of the puzzle.

House: We didn’t miss anything because there was nothing to miss. He didn’t kill himself. He was murdered.

Wilson walks off.

Back in the classic room, House is writing on the backside of the whiteboard, hiding whatever he’s writing from Thirteen and Taub. Thirteen asks where Foreman is and House says that he took up Cuddy’s offer for time off. She looks a bit strange when he says that.

He turns the board around and has a list of motives for murder, trying to figure out why Kutner was murdered. Thirteen says that she’s not going to waste times chasing ghosts, no matter how much they wall want to know why Kutner did it. Taub says he’s curious about why a man who embraces the rational is suddenly irrational.

House breaks off his train of thought and tells the team to run for something called Alpha One.

Taub’s with Charlotte and she tells Taub that she wants him to give Eddie her organs if she dies. He tells her that it’s not too late for her. She asks if it’s too late for Eddie, and he says that it is.

Thirteen goes knocking on Foreman’s door.

Thirteen: Remy Hadley. I also answer to Thirteen, I sometimes sleep with you…

Foreman says that he should have called, but that he needs some time alone. He tells her that he’s worked through a lot of bad stuff in his life and always done it solo. Close to tears, Thirteen leaves.

Cuddy finds House snooping around Kutner’s email. He says that Kutner testified at the murderer’s trial and that the murderer is about to be paroled. Cuddy, however, says that the police have ruled it a suicide, as he was shot in the temple, with his own gun.

Taub tells House that Charlotte’s liver is shot, and that she’s dead in 24 hours if she doesn’t get a new liver. Turns out she’d tried to kill herself in order to get a new organ to her husband. Suddenly House goes down to talk to Cameron.

He tells Cameron that he needs an incurable romantic in order to talk to an incurable romantic. She tells House that Kutner wasn’t murdered, that House wants him to have been murdered because it means that House didn’t miss something.

House asks her to talk to Meatloaf because he’s got a liver that his wife needs. The plan is that he’ll donate a part of a liver, but die on the table (he’d never survive the surgery) and will end up giving the wife a whole liver.

House: But if he’s going to do this, he’s going to do this for love. I thought he should talk to someone who understands the language.

Cameron tells Meatloaf about the surgery, and about how he’ll likely not survive. He asks if he can say goodbye, and Cameron says that he can’t.

Cameron tells House that she doesn’t think that Meatloaf has heart failure, but that something else is wrong because he has nodules on his finger tips. He tells Cameron that the guy who killed Kutner’s parents died of an aneurysm a few months ago. She tells him that Kutner hid from everyone, and that he should do the test on Eddie to find out what’s wrong.

House goes into Eddie’s room with a paper and tells him that his heart condition was caused from mold, and that a few months of treatment will cure him. He tells House that he doesn’t want the treatment, and that he was ready to die. House doesn’t understand.

Eddie: If you won’t do it, release me, and when I get hit by a car and show up in your morgue, you can give her my liver then.

Thirteen and Taub are in House’s office and Thirteen says she’s not going to commit murder.

Taub: I will. We’ve already had one pointless death.

Taub walks Eddie into Charlotte’s room and tells her that Eddie has a curable disease and that he wants to die to save her. She says “Eddie, don’t” and starts having a hard time breathing again.

Back with diagnosing – Taub tells House that Charlotte’s got a fever and that her body is infected all over. He says that he should fire Taub, while Thirteen’s focused on the infection being a new clue.

House: What is she hiding?
Taub: You don’t know…
House: Either we have all the clues and we’re idiots or we don’t have all the clues!!

He gets the “I figured it out” look and goes into the patient’s room. He says that she’s actually been to Rio, and not Hawaii like she told her husband. That the disease bearing sand flies are completely different.

She admits that she traveled to Rio because she got tired of waiting for her husband to take her, the way he’d always promised to. House tells Taub to start her medications and to get Cuddy to find her a liver.

In the hallway, looking in, House speaks again.

House: They were ready to die, for guilt or love.
Taub: You can’t feel that much guilt without love.

Cuddy says that she’s found a liver, but Taub tells Cuddy to have the medical team to turn around, that they diagnosed Charlotte too late and her medical treatment isn’t working.

The entire crew is heading to Kutner’s funeral. Wilson confronts House and tells him that he thinks House is terrified that he missed something and that he’s terrified that he’s losing his gift, who he is.

Wilson: And I’m terrified of what you’d do then.
House: Unless you feel there’s more to do here to cure me, don’t you have a funeral to go to?

And Wilson leaves.

At Kutner’s funeral, a full house is packed in, mourning Kutner. Thirteen turns and finds Foreman there, alone, staring at the casket.

Scenes switch off – Eddie sitting in his bed near his dying wife, house in Kutner’s apartment, the funeral and Thirteen and Foreman paying their respects as pall bearers. House is focused on the picture on Kutner’s wall of both of his families. Taub is standing by as Charlotte is dying. Eddie kisses her hand and she dies.

At Kutner’s funeral they are all outside. House is looking through the photos of Kutner at his apartment. Thirteen is standing and Foreman’s hand slides into hers. Taub is sitting alone in the hallway and breaks down, crying. House finds a picture of a troubled-looking Kutner as the show goes off. We get a quick shot for NAMI.ORG.

Kutner is dead! What do you think about this development? I mean, we knew that someone was supposed to die, but Kutner?! I’m sorry - I’m still in shock that Kutner was killed off! What do you guys think?!
