Games Recap

Show starts out with a bunch of band members talking about going on stage. The guy smoking a cigarette starts to destroy a brand new ’64 teardrop guitar because it looks “too pretty. Wait – is that guy the guy from 28 Weeks Later? Must Research – anyway, he starts coughing up blood (very beautiful) and passes out.

House is watching some cheesy soap in the doctor’s lounge when cuddy comes in and asks who he’s keeping – she gives him two weeks and says that if he doesn’t choose someone the pay overrun is coming out of his salary and she moves his parking lot to the E-lot.

He heads into the ER and asks Cameron for a patient when he meets Jimmy Quib, our punk rocker from before.

House: I’ve died and gone to diagnostic heaven
Cameron: His blood work showed cocaine use, alcohol and other drugs. The only mystery here is how he lived to be 38.
Jimmy: I’m 28.
Cameron: And he lies. And he’s a pain in the ass.
House: Wrap him up, I’ll take him to go.

Back in the lecture hall, House lays it out for the team. He tells the crew that it’s the final case and suddenly everyone has a theory on what’s wrong. House thinks he’s ill because he has 20 out of 20 symptoms of a drug addict, so he thinks something else is wrong.

Foreman: It’d be nice if we didn’t kill him when we tried to discover what’s killing him.

House heads to Wilson’s office to find him confused. He says that he screwed up a diagnosis. Apparently the biopsy was a false positive so the man who thought he had 6 months to live now has…well, as long as the rest of us do.

Amber waiting for the patient outside of the bathroom. Thirteen (from here on out called Hadley) tells Amber she’s an idiot for letting a known smoker into a bathroom with an oxygen tank, when it suddenly explodes.

Back to Wilson’s office where House interrupts Wilson giving the patient the “good news. He’s even wearing a lab coat! HA! House seems intrigued by the man’s reaction. Instead of being happy, he’s worried about the $6,000 broker commission he has to pay on the house he’s “not selling – House says it’s not about the money.

House is putting up numbers on the board.

Amber: I’ve got 17 points?
House: I started you all out at 100, then you blew up part of the building.

Chase and Foreman are talking and Foreman realizes that House is moving around, so he’s following the fellows instead. The patient is going a bit crazy and won’t let the crew prep him for the biopsy. Turns out the patient is going a bit nuts because he put tons of nicotine patches all over his arm. His finger, however, has tons of blood, meaning he’s got blood clots moving all over his body.

Back to diagnosing and House admits that he paged Taub to move him because Foreman’s following Taub. Hadley argues with Amber about her treatment and ideas and House gives her the “eyeball (only the one carrying the eyeball can treat)

House: Manipulative bitch, you’re wanted in the loser’s circle.

He starts quizzing Amber as to why she hates to lose. She says that she noticed once that the winning football team was the winning team, so she wants to win.

Amber: How is the willingness to do anything to get the answer bad for the patient?

Taub and Hadley discover that they’ve lost their patient while House is playing records in Wilson’s office. House discovers that Wilson wants to pay the patient the $6,000 dollars when Hadley and Taub come in and say that they’ve lost their patient. He sends Taub to the lost and found while he quizzes Hadley about why she seems to sympathize with the patient.

House: What makes you so sure that the drugs are a mask for something else?
Hadley: Drugs are always a mask for something else.
House: That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

They discover the rocker in the pediatric area pretending to be a superhero for the sick children when he passes out again.

Cuddy comes into the lecture hall and tells him to get control of the patient and he asks for her opinion – she’s shocked.

House: You’re a beaurocratic nightmare, a chronic pain in the ass, and you’re a second rate doctor at best.
Cuddy: Am I blushing?
House: But you do know this stuff.

She says he should keep Taub and Kutner – Taub because he’d stand up to House and Kutner because he shares House’s view of patient treatment.

House discovers that the patient’s friends have been sharing needles with him, screwing up some of the tests when the patient drops and goes into respiratory failure.

They’re diagnosing in the laundry room to hide from Foreman, even though he found them and House tells him to run some tests. Foreman says “sure and House decides to do the test himself.

He’s doing an ultrasound on the guy’s chest and talking with him about his music.

House: There are three choices in this life: be good, get good, or give up.

House finds “peculiar masses near the heart. House finds it odd that the patient cares whether or not he appreciate his music but he doesn’t care whether or not he lives or dies.

Wilson’s patient rips up his check because it’s not enough. He says that for the first time he was living in the present.

Patient: You gave me happiness, and then you took it away.

Taub wants to see if the patient has a strange vessel, but he shakes too much for pictures and MRI’s, so he goes to Chase to do a surgery. House asks Chase who he should hire and Chase (after Taub pulls some tricky talking) says to keep Taub and Amber, because he’ll get stuff done.

On the table the patient starts to crash and we’re back to diagnosing, after discovering that he’s got large lymph nodes. Foreman tells House to pick someone and House tells Hadley and Kutner to leave – they start coming up with ideas and he tells them that they’re not fired.

House: Competition works.

Amber’s trying to get the patient to tell him who sold the drugs to him but he’s not talking about it. He says that he doesn’t regret his life and Amber asks what it’s like.

Wilson goes into House’s office concerned about the guy who’s trying to sue him and the two get into an argument.

Wilson: You don’t want to face it anymore than my patient does. Dying’s easy – living’s hard.
House: That can’t possibly be as poignant as it sounds.

Kutner interrupts and tells House that the patient’s treatment isn’t working and that he volunteers at a children’s home. House goes into Cuddy’s office and says that he wants a brain biopsy for his patient. House believes that the patient has measles (the working with kids thing) because of the years that he’s been taking drugs – and says that he couldn’t have gotten the answer without all four of them. Cuddy says that House needs to trigger a seizure before she’ll let him have the brain biopsy.

He brings a huge amp into the testing room and starts playing the same, annoying song he was playing in Wilson’s office (it seriously sounds like a cat scratching and puking at the same time). The music throws the patient into a seizure and House gets his biopsy.

He walks into the lecture hall and stars playing some folk type music. He asks Amber to stand.

Amber: You didn’t call me bitch, is that bad?

He says that she played the game better than anyone else, but for the wrong reasons.

House: If you’re going to work for me, you have to be willing to be wrong. Cause you just were. You’re fired.

He asks Hadley to stand and says “you’re fired with no explaination. Amber is crying and Hadley is confused.

House: Four applicants – two spots – if I had three, I’d keep you.

Amber’s in the patient’s room and tells him that he’s going to live. He asks what she’s doing there and he says, “trying not to care.

Cameron comes into the lecture hall and asks what House is doing. She says that he can’t hire just men and tells him to hire a woman too.

Cuddy: Hire the one that cares about people.
House: They both do.
Cuddy: Hire Thirteen.

She walks away and stops and turns.

Cuddy: This was your plan all along.

House grins (god he’s sexy when he grins).

409games-house2.jpg

Cuddy: Well, at least the games will stop.
House: How long have you known me?

House walks out of the lecture hall and shuts the light off, a smile on his face.

And then we find out that NO NEW HOUSE UNTIL JANUARY!! NOOOO!!! I hope you’ll keep coming back through the break to discover what’s going on with all the actors and the crew of House! I’ll also keep doing the “spotlight on” articles.

apparently , it is a composition written by Hugh Laurie himself! its amazing, the amount of talent someone like that has… makes me feel utterly worthless

I am currently in the process of writing a guitar tab for that song. I’ve saved the episode on my DVR and keep listening to it over and over to get it all right. I’ve only been playing guitar for about 5 months, so it takes me a bit longer to pick up note and chord progressions.
