Huddy Kiss

by Randi

First, let me show you what I’ll be talking about right now -

Now, let’s discuss the kiss. Some people, including a commenter here, have said that they didn’t like the way that the kiss happened. That it happened due to the stress of the situation, and that there were better ways it could have been done.

I actually disagree in this case. We all know that House has a thing for Cuddy…what kind of a thing is yet to be determined (at least in its fullness). Cuddy, however, would never have gone to House and just kissed him - especially since she would never have been sure if he would have rejected her or not. It needed to happen in this type of a high stress situation.

And coming from a viewing standpoint, I loved that they stopped the music and had one note just hanging there…kind of symbolic, in a way, don’t you think?

So let’s hear it: what did you think about the much awaited for Huddy Kiss?

  1. Gogetit Says:

    Absolutely great this episode!
It had to happen definately under this sort of stress, besides it was House looking forward to it and cuddy just answer back!
I´ve never seen House this confused (i don´t think that is quite the word I´m looking for…), anyways, i do hope to see what will happen on the next episode.

Is House gonna be in denial?

  2. Ginger Says:

hmmmm…it was an awkward kiss to be sure.

  3. Jenna Says:

I agree…loved the episode and the kiss…really shows the vulnerability of both characters. I think it unfolded perfectly. Life and love is messy.

dying to know what will happen on the next episode.

  4. Magenta Says:

It was absolutely perfect and exactly the way it needed to happen. I’m glad House left right after too!!! I can’t think of anything about last night’s episode that I would have changed.

Well, except to have more Cameron and Chase, but that’s a given.

  5. Sandra Says:

The kiss was more than awkward and House practically ran away after it. I just hope they don’t continue this, this mushy love-crap would ruin the show (come on, this is HOUSE not Days of our lives!) - and I have to admit I still can’t see any real sexual tension between the two, it looks so forced at least from House’s/Hugh’s side. But great performance by Lise Edelstein though throughout the whole baby-thing, I felt so sorry for her!

  6. Edyta Says:

I don’t agree with Sandra. Tension between those is like blinking neon:D you just can’t missed it!Kiss was suprising and it could be unreal if house and cuddy starting kissing like in “Gone with the wind” with noisy music on the background…It was an accident, just happen when two people have to handeling with too many feelings, not only between each other. I think that both, Hugh and Lisa were perfect.I was holding my breathe diuring this kiss….

  7. Rosemarie Says:

I think it was ackward… which made me love it even more. I mean, she just “lost a kid” and is not going to get all lovey dovey. We all know House is an a-hole but we love him for it. I think this kiss was exactly the way these two characters would be expected to portrayed it if it was in real life. And him leaving is just HOUSE… he runs away from his own life by interfiering on someone else’s. I gave it a 4 thumbs up (I am counting my feet too)

  8. sharp2799 Says:

I thought it was awkward and forced, especially with that dialogue. And the fact that the actors did an interview *explaining* the kiss made me think they (or TPTB) didn’t believe it either.

Can we get back to, you know, interesting cases on the show?

  9. Mackenzie Says:

I thought the kiss was not awkward, but it was more random. I mean it just seemed to me as if House came over to her house drunk or something and just kissed and then ran off. I mean he frickin basically ran away from the kiss and it was just all like huh? What just happened. And to top it all off, the writers seem to be getting pretty desperate with storylines cuz this is the second time in about three weeks that the patient had something to do with drugs. And the mushy lovey dovey stuff just isn’t House (as in the show not the character). I mean it would be pretty awesome for House and Cuddy to get together but the great thing is that they just won’t and there will always be that tension between them and now their relationship will be different and definitely won’t be the same show.

  10. Randi Says:

This is one of the things that I love about House - so many controversial things to discuss. Some want House and Cuddy together, others don’t. I think, if House and Cuddy were were together, he’d still be the same House.

Actually, that would be a good story - House finding himself changing due to loving a woman and realizing that he doesn’t want to change. Interesting….

  11. Grace Says:

I’m still digesting the kiss. It might take
    me a while.

  12. Thomas Says:

Although the episode, as such, was great as far as the “drama/soap” content is concerned, the Cuddy character behaved unethically throughout. Having the baby delivered at the hospital Cuddy’s the DoM of - I beg your pardon? Advising the mother to not deliver the baby early depite known risks to the mother’s healt - I beg your pardon? NO WAY a true DoM would behave like that!

  13. gaby Says:

I thought the scene (and the kiss) were very well done. It was a little funny at first, then intense and angsty, and ultimately passionate. It is clear it’s a confusing situation for both of the characters. Even if House is the instigator (I agree that Cuddy would never have done it, herself), he clearly doesn’t really know what he’s doing. Hence the escape!

I’m dying to see how the whole thing unfolds in the future.

Season 5 has been great this far!

  14. Mosky Says:

    O_O

It definitely going to change the show, but shows must change, evolve, or they get stuck. It was weird, but also amazing. I wanna see the next episode right now. Poor Cuddy, I was in tension the whole time because, as the writers are, she couldn’t keep the baby. Damn writers. They made us suffer.

  15. Mosky Says:

Ok. House doesn’t look like wanting to kiss Cuddy. This is weird. I can’t stop watching it. Will I undestand it? I hope so.

  16. Edyta Says:

I read all your posts and I realize that some of you are disapoited. Why? And what is funny because you don’t even know why.Want to the *kiss* happen, but not now, not this way and more weired explanations…

*Kiss* was unespected for both, House and Cuddy, maybe that was a only reason why looked so weired and for me authentical.

I belive that writers have a master plan and for us left to trust them.

  17. Vi Says:

Hmm…I’ve watched the kiss scene about 20 times now, and well…There’s a reason: I thought the whole scene was done very well. House comes over to make himself part of another person’s life, like he always does. he cracks a joke in a tense situation, like he always does….Then it gets serious. House negates himself. Why? well because he wants people to prove him wrong! Cuddy obviously wanted to keep the baby and cared for the baby, even though throughout the episode House was almost sure she didn’t…and I believe he was so overwhelmed when he saw how much cuddy was hurting that he just had to kiss her. Why did house run away at the end? because he had no answer as to why he did what he did. I don’t think he ran away because of how horrible the kiss was. The kiss lasted for over 10 seconds for goodness sakes!

House is a very complicated character. He’s rude and brash but he’s still human. I don’t understand why people think his character is changing! There’s always been sexual tension between house and cuddy and seeing cuddy in pain while she proved him wrong was bound to do SOMETHING to him.

I really hope they explore this further. They can’t just have them kiss and then say, oh forget about it.

  18. Rosemarie Says:

AS a matter of fact, I have been watching reruns in TBS and the CW, and yesterday I watched episode 306 “Top Secret” about this marine Cuddy wants House to treat. House was intrigued bc he had seen him before but wasn’t sure where or when. At almost the end of the episode House realizes the marine is one guy Cuddy made out with 3 (or 5) years ago while out with House. She was certainly flatered he House remembered but here is the transcript:

“House has remembered why he dreamed about the Marine before he became his patient. He had seen him before. He confronts Cuddy, “I’ve been thinking about you. You lied.
“I didn’t lie, I simply chose not to share completely irrelevant facts.
“Like the fact that you lied. No wonder I couldn’t place his face. You were practically swallowing it on the dance floor.
    “I was not.
“Talk about the cool uncle, he donates the money while the nephew gets the write off. Of course by write off I mean he gets to put your ankles…
“This is exactly why I didn’t mention our one date over two years ago. Because you are an obnoxious ass. Because you would’ve spent the whole time…
“That’s very smart, because this way I spent my whole time completely focused on the patient…
“How did you even remember him? We were only at that party for like 10 minutes. Cuddy smiles…
“What is this some new health plan? You service the Dean of Medicine and you get free health care for a year? Why are you smiling?
“You remembered him because he made out with me.
“I’m good with faces. So this plan, is it open to anyone? Is there a co-pay?
    “You’re lousy with faces.
“Don’t make this about me, this is your humiliation. So how much for private room coverage?
    “Get over me.”
“Oh give me a break. You hired me…
“Because you’re a good doctor who couldn’t get himself hired at a blood bank so I got you cheap.
“You gave me everything I asked for because one night I gave you everything you—
“Stop staring at my ass when you think I’m not looking, showing up at restaurants where I happen to be on a date and fantasising about me in the shower. That ship sailed long ago House. Get over it.” Cuddy walks away from him.
“If your still referring to you ass I think that super tanker sailed would be a more precise metaphor.”

So I guess Cuddy and House did the nasty once and he never got over it….

    I love watching reruns…

  19. Luv Wilson Says:

House is intrigued by those who prove him wrong. Cuddy did this by showing how much she really did want the baby. That is why he negates himself and that’s why he kisses her.
And I think it was done beautifully. It needed to be sudden and forbidden and frightening for them that way.

  20. Grace Says:

Gosh, House was SO mean to Cuddy during the entire episode. Then he comes over and rather than slap him upside the head, she kisses him???? Hmmmmm………………..
I’d like Stacy to come back.

OH LORD PLEASE NO!! NOT ANOTHER EPISODE ABOUT 13!!!!!!!

  21. fan Says:

What song is playing during the huddy kiss?

  22. anne Says:

now how cuddy could say no to house ?
