Hugh Not At Idol taping
Thanks to reader Kole, we now know that Hugh Laurie wasn’t at the “Idol Gives Back” taping that was done yesterday. Kole says:
Hey, just wanted to give you all the heads up. I went to the Idol performance at the Kodak Theater today (they filmed today and it airs Wednesday). Hugh wasn’t there but Jesse Spencer was and he did an absolutely fabulous job on the violin. The band was great and everyone was in high spirits so it’s worth watching even though Hugh was MIA.
No Hugh? Awww…but at least we get to see sexy Jesse, right?!
I’ll also have to force myself to watch it because I run the Brad Pitt Watch website, and even though I’m definitely not an Idol fan, the fact that I get to see Brad and Jesse means that I’ll try to suffer through it…but it’ll be so hard *grin*.

Hi, I’m reading from Portugal, and as you might guess we don’t have your channels over here. Do you think there’s anyway this show could be transfered to digital format and seeded through torrents, for example?
Would mean a lot for international fans

Hugh wasn’t at the tuberous sclerosis charity event with ‘Band From TV’ either later that night. I spoke with the band and Hugh rarely rehearses with them and he hasn’t been to any gigs this year. It’s unfair to the fans who spend money to go see him at these events. One woman in line flew all the way from Japan to attend the charity event because she wanted to see/meet Hugh. Hugh should simply be a “guest artist” and announce when he will appear with the band. It would be fairer to the fans. However, on a happy note, Jesse was excellent on the violin, handsome as ever and extremely generous and kind to the fans who showed up. They really know how to groom them in Australia.

Not surprised that Hugh hasn’t played any gigs with BfTV this year. Three months of the Writers’ Strike? Was probably back in London with the fam., taking a much-needed break.

If people attend these events, they are gambling that Hugh will be there. I don’t think it should ever be assumed he will be there and then noone will be disappointed if he doesn’t show. I’m sure he had his reasons.

Hugh was there. I saw a seconds of it while they were talking about it to Bob and Hugh was wearing a black hat and was playing piano. He was there.

You sure that was not just archive footage from the Emmy awards performance/rehearsal last year or year before ?
I mean: people who were actually there for themselves say that he was not present, and you think different just because of something that you’ve seen on TV ?
