Dying Changes Everything - Review Soon!

by

I’m sorry! I usually watch the episode and post my review up directly following the episode, but I’ve been slammed with work (don’t ever let anyone tell you that freelance writers get to chill out and watch TV all day long - they’re lying) and even though I was able to watch the show last night, I haven’t done a thorough review yet!

I will say, however, that I thought it was excellent - I thought that the whole House/Wilson thing was great, especially at the end when House went into Wilson’s office. I also thought that seeing into 13’s future was a bit…iffy. On one hand I feel a bit more concerned for her, but on the other hand I just want to say “stop whining” - even though she’s not really whining.

What did you think about the episode last night?!?!

*edited to add* How did House do in the ratings last night?

Fox was in a winning league of its own on Tuesday, beating with its combination of the season-premiere of House (Viewers: #1, 14.41 million; A18-49: #1, 5.5 rating/16 share) and week two of Fringe (Viewers: #1, 13.36 million; A18-49: #1, 5.2/13), which held 87 percent in viewers and 88 percent among adults 18-49 of the 8:30 p.m. portion of House (Viewers: 15.37 million; A18-49: 5.9/16). Although most new shows drop by 10 to 20 percent in the second week, Fringe actually built by a hefty 4.23 million viewers and 62 percent in the demo from its 90-minute debut one week earlier (Viewers: 9.13 million; A18-49: 3.2/ 9 on Sept. 10) thanks to the support of House. House, meanwhile, opened last season with 18.31 million viewers and a 7.8/19 among adults 18-49 on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at 9 p.m.

“House” (14.4 million, 5.5/16) helped fuel “Fringe” but was down 29% from last year’s premiere and was the lowest-rated Tuesday original of the drama since 2005. Should be noted, however, that last year’s opener was at 9 p.m. and during the official broadcast premiere week, so it had a better launch period.

So not a great start, but it makes sense as to why the start wasn’t so great. What do you think of this?

Interviews About Season 5

by

I know I just posted about the season premiere (ON TONIGHT), but I found this long interview over on Hollywood.com that you have to read! Here are a few snippits:

On the dimensions of House he’s excited to explore:
Laurie: There are places to go, there are layers to be revealed, situations to put him in that will reveal anxieties and desires that he has. In fact, those are things that we have actually done so far this season. In the first half dozen shows, we see House in some pretty unusual situations. We see him in ways that we haven’t seen him before, dealing with his own loss, his loss of Wilson, potentially the loss of a parent and just dealing with his own grief, how grief shows itself in him. There are ways in which it surprises him as well as everyone else, but I feel just so lucky to be driving this beautifully constructed motor car. I’m just thankful that they remember to put gas in the tank, if that analogy makes any sense at all. But it is very much [the writers’] car. They designed it and I drive it where they tell me.

On his recent decision to re-up for several more seasons of the show:
Laurie: I certainly feel very, very blessed to be doing what I’m doing, playing this character which is a character that I still am fascinated by and love, I would say. Actually, I think that’s part of an actor’s job, to love the character that you play, in a way. I love the show, the people I’m working with – I’d be foolish not to go as far as the show goes, to go the distance with the show. If that’s where it takes us then that’s where it takes us. Then it may not. It might all end in a week’s time, but that’s partly me. I’m always thinking that way. I mean, I think this occurs in a woman’s life. It’s an enormous thing to happen, you know, your husband is cheating on you and what do you do and who are your allies and who comes to your aid? And all these things are, I think, relevant and equally true now, so it’s just a different observation, different observations on an age-old trouble.

On the long-simmering prospect of a House-Cuddy romance:
Edelstein: I wouldn’t want to ruin anything, but they’re definitely exploring the House/Cuddy relationship further without actually losing the dynamic that exists between them. That kind of edgy dynamic does not go away. David Shore never writes in a straight line. So it’s been a lot of fun…I think that if you asked Cuddy, I think for her she deeply admires this human being as much as he’s a pain in the ass or a pain in the arse, depending on who you talk to. I think she sees the best in him on that level even though he makes her life very, very difficult at times.

On Kutner’s approach to life and death:

Penn: At the end of the last season, you find out what had happened to Kutner’s parents. When he was six he saw them get murdered, basically, so his view of life and death is maybe a little more grounded in something. He’s mourned something so severe, so something that would happen to Amber is just part of life and death. But he also asked her out after Wilson had already beaten him to it, so he probably had some sort of a private grieving process. When he said goodbye to her it certainly wasn’t this big dramatic, emotional thing for him. He just did what he had to do, kind of smiled at her, and that was it.

On Thirteen’s life-altering medical revelation:
Wilde: At the end of Season Four we learned that Thirteen indeed does have Huntington’s Disease, which she suspected because of her mother. It’s House that encouraged her to find out. That was a difficult decision for her, I think, partly because of Amber’s death, she decided to go ahead and find out. Not only does she find out that she has Huntington’s but it’s very bad, her diagnosis, in that she doesn’t have too long. Eight to ten years is the life expectancy. Many of those years will be miserable dealing with the side effects of the disease. In the beginning of Season Five we pick up with her dealing with that. She is a woman who really likes to be in control. She doesn’t like to have anyone pity her. She doesn’t like to bring her personal life into the office. She would rather have no one even call her by her real name then have anyone know anything know anything about her.

Dying Changes Everything Preview

by

Are you excited? Are you excited?!?!?! Tonight’s the season premiere of HOUSE!!! Remember - House is on Fox tonight at it’s new time, 8 EST. What’s up for tonight? Tonight’s episode is called Dying Changes Everything - here’s the premise:

Eight weeks after the death of his girlfriend, Amber, Wilson is still mourning her death, and his relationship with his best friend House is shattered. Needing to make a change in his life and give himself time to recover emotionally, Wilson resigns from Princeton-Plainsboro. He is forced to decide if House is a destructive force in his life, while House has to determine if he’s responsible for the death of his best friend’s girlfriend. The team must push forward as they encounter a case involving an assistant to a high-profile executive, who is a textbook “Type A” personality. The team suspects that the patient’s symptoms stem from her obsession to constantly please her demanding boss. However, her shocking medical condition forces the team to rethink their initial diagnoses and see the case through House’s eyes. Meanwhile, Cuddy attempts to salvage the irreparable rift between House and Wilson, and Thirteen struggles to treat the patient objectively without bringing the reality of her own medical condition to the case.

Here is the extended trailer for tonight’s episode (edited to add - I don’t think that it’s just for the first episode, as a number of the preview shots from the next two episodes look to be in this trailer as well…unless it’s one of those “to be continued…” shows…hmmm) along with some great promotional screen shots!! Enjoy, and remember to come back later tonight for the recap (which, in my true fashion, will surely be long and with lots of quotes!)

Where Has The Writer Been?

by

Would you believe that I took a trip to Tahiti for a month where I did nothing but watch House reruns and sip fruity drinks with umbrellas in them? No?! I wouldn’t either. Actually what happened is really benign - the last month of the summer just got away from me. Between all of the normal everyday life stuff, a lot of not-so-great things happened and, the next thing I knew, it was the middle of September. I apologize greatly for taking a month (or so) off, but please know that I’m here! I’m back! And now that the kiddos are back in school (one is in preschool which just started) and the new season is rushing right up to us, I’m ready to get the show on the road!

One of the good things that happened since I’ve been gone is that the gurus at 451 Press changed the layout a bit here, so I can post tons of pics in a little gallery, making it easy to see new pictures of the show, which I love.

There are TONS of things to discuss so let me gather my thoughts and I’ll be back with some spoilers and other information about the new season - I’m also working on getting some stuff for giveaways (yay), so make sure you keep coming back!

For now, here are some HQ photos from the season promotional photo shoot!!

Cuddy and Cameron “valley girls”

by

I’m so, SO sorry! I’ve been badly neglecting this site this summer - I apologize profusely! I’m slammed with work right now, but am also digging up some juicy details about the next season, and the actors, so until then, enjoy this hilarious scene between Cuddy and Cameron, which was re-taped with the two actresses acting like “Valley Girls”

Thanks to my girl Jaime for the link!

Big Celebrities at Fox Party!

by

Fox’s All Star Party at the Pier had some huge stars! All the Fox celebrities showed up, including Hugh, Omar, Olivia, and Kal! Absent were Jesse Spencer, Jennifer Morrison, and Lisa Edelstein (and RSL, who’s never at these parties).

Unfortunately this year I don’t see any pics of Hugh on bumper cars, but there is a cute one of the three new ducklings!

House in America

by

I got a desperate email from a reader this morning who was providing me with the news that Hugh has, apparently, purchased a house in the United States. She also asks that I refrain from posting images or the address of the property.

“I think Hugh deserves a bit of privacy, don’t you?” she asks.

Yes, I do. I will refrain from posting these photos, or from saying where you can see them. I wanted to write about him purchasing a house in the US, however, because I hope it means that he will no longer have a rocky relationship with his wife or kids. I am hoping that this means that Jo and the family will be moving over here, at least part of the year, so that they do not have to be separated as much as they usually are. Hugh and his family deserve not only privacy, but also the ability to be able to spend quality time together.

Hugh and British Slang

by

My lovely husband was being..well..rather lovely tonight and looked up some Hugh news. What he found was a hilarious video of Hugh and Ellen trying to figure out what slang meant from each other’s country! You definitely have to take a look at it!

Information and Spoilers for Season 5

by

Are you going through House withdrawal yet? This is about the time of year when I get a bit relaxed about it. It’s been months since I’ve seen a new episode, and I know that a new one is still months away, so I tend to try to block it out of my mind, simply for sanity’s sake.

This website, however, requires that I do a bit of thinking about the actors and the next season. It’s a painful process, I assure you :).

Anyway, thanks to faithful reader Anzelique, we’ve got some spoilers for the next season! First, check out this YouTube…if this doesn’t whet your whistle a bit for some new House episodes, I’m not sure what will!

Next, we’ve got some photos of Hugh and Robert on location filming last month, working on an episode entitled “Birthmarks”.

hugh-laurie-on-location-5.jpg

robert-sean-leonard-on-location-1.jpg

It is also rumored that the private detective who is going to be working around the hospital has a crush on Cuddy! Woo…wonder what House will think!

Have you heard any new spoilers House fans?

I’m SO SORRY You Guys!

by

What started as taking a day or two (or five) off, turned out to be a huge catastrophe!

Let me explain.

The company that this website is owned by is named 451 Press. It seems that the servers were getting hit with too much traffic, so, like the freeway on the 4th of July weekend, it shut down.

But now we’re back! And I promise I won’t go away for so long again! Its true, absence really does make the heart grow fonder, and I really missed talking to you guys on a daily basis! So, to make up for my long time away, here are some wallpapers I dug up just for you! I’ll be back later today with some spoilers and some great information on House and Hugh and the whole crew!

Interview with Lisa Edelstein and Cuddy Strip-Tease (Finally)

by

You know, I kept saying I was going to grab the Cuddy strip-tease and put it up online for everyone, but I kept forgetting! We have it on our DVR, so I can watch it there and forget to look for it online. FINALLY we have the strip tease, or the Lisa Edelstein strip tease or pole dance - whatever you want to call it. I call it: sheer genius.

Lisa also gave a short interview to E!’s Kristen , where she talks about Cuddy, House, and the strip tease and Hugh. Here’s a little excerpt:

Could you tell us something fun about the lap-dance scene?
We filmed for about four hours, and there were several moves that were left out in the final edit, which were my favorite. I rehearsed for about two weeks with a special trainer who does not train strippers but trains women to do that kind of dancing for themselves or for their husbands or wives, however they may roll. It was a little scary, but it was a lot of fun.

How did Hugh handle it?
Hugh was so wonderful. I did it for him before we shot it because I was so worried. It’s a whole different relationship than what we have as friends working together. So for Hugh and the director and producer of that episode, I did a personal lap dance and showed it to them, and Hugh was incredibly supportive, like a cheerleader. There was nothing about what he did that made me uncomfortable. He appreciated it as a man, up to the level that he could and should in a way that was not inappropriate. I felt beautiful, and it ended up being a really lovely experience.

Lisa Edelstein’s New Boyfriend

by

edelsteinmonaco1.jpg

Ummm - wait - what’s this? Lisa Edelstein showed up at the Monte Carlo Television Festival on Saturday with someone who definitely, definitely doesn’t resemble her boyfriend. The last information I have shows that Lisa was dating Petri Räisänen, as shown below:

edelsteinboyfriend.jpg

So who, then, was Lisa with in Monaco on Saturday?! Whomever he is, he looks much more attractive, nice, and approachable to me! Does anyone have any idea who Lisa’s new beau is?

Update On: Robert Sean Leonard

by

I also run the Brad Pitt Watch site for 451Press, and do you know that I was contemplating the other day why it seemed so much less intimidating to run that site lately. I think its because there are only 2 people I have to worry about with that site - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. With this site, however, there are tons of people to watch! Hugh, Lisa, Jennifer, Jesse, Omar - well - not so much Omar, but everyone else! So I’m going to try to bring tidbits a few times a week about the different actors and what is going on. Let’s start with Robert Sean Leonard!

Everyone is saying that he deserves to be nominated for an Emmy this year for his acting in “Wilson’s Heart”, and I heartily agree. Robert did an amazing job as a Wilson who has his heart breaking, and who is torn between his best friend and his girlfriend. On the “real life” homefront, there is some more good news!

robertgaby.jpg

According to reports, Robert and his fiancee, Gaby Salick, will be married in August! Reports are a bit conflicting, however, as some are saying that Gaby made it into the Olympics, while others are saying she did not, and I haven’t been able to sort that out yet. But reports are clear that before the end of the summer, the two will be married!

Robert recently did an interview in a German horse magazine, Das Pferdemagazin. I’ve been able to find a few bits and pieces of the interview translated - take a look!

Do you have contact with horses? Have you ridden for a role before?

I like horses but, if I am too near to them, my hands and my face begin to itch! I am probably allergic. They are huge and have gigantic teeth! But I have learned that one can give a horse an apple without losing any fingers.

I have had to gallop in the film ” Much Ado about Nothing” over a hill with many other actors. My horse “Dusty” has continuously bitten in my foot. I think I was too tall for her. In any case I had to sit heavily upright as our director has demanded. Therefore the scene is filmed into slow motion around the eight seconds film time to get. None of us actors could sit correctly at the same time together.

Remember - if you find any information about the House crew, feel free to let me know! A quick search shows that while some of the actors have movies coming out in the fall or next year, it looks like there are no premieres for the House crew this summer *sob*…

Hugh Laurie as a Chipmunk?

by

I’ve been neglecting this site since the season ended - its always hard to keep readers when the season isn’t going, and its hard to write when you know that NO ONE is reading, but I just couldn’t resist this -

My good friend Jaime, whom you can find here and here (among a variety of other places) sent me this link and it is absolutely hilarious! I”ll be digging up some new news later today - and Hugh will be hitting the red carpet soon for his movie - come back later! I promise I’ll have some interesting stuff for you!
