SIX EPISODES LEFT!!
I just caught a story on MSNBC - according to their information, there are only SIX HOUSE EPISODES LEFT!!! And they’ve already said that they may hold some of these episodes for sweeps, so there is a good possibility that we will be forced to watch a number of re-runs in a very short amount of time.
NO!!
I’m all for striking and for standing up for yourself, but jeez, come on! You’re hitting where it hurts guys!
There is something that a lot of friends and House lovers have been wondering - why can’t the studios hire temporary writers? Many of the scripts are HALF written, meaning they only need a ghost writer or two to finish them. As long as you hire a writer who is good, and who knows he characters well (*AHEM*), you should be able to have a decent story! After all, the medical advisors haven’t quit, and they’re the ones that come up with the illnesses and diseases.
So what do you think? Do you think that a temporary writer (or 2) would be fine, or would House not be the same?
Oh - and I put the old banner back up because you guys liked it better. I really do appreciate the advice and hope that you’ll keep it coming! Let ME know what you’d like me to research and what you want to read about!
Have a great weekend!

The reason they don’t hire temporary writers is they would be banned from ever joining the WGA. They would be SCABS and would encourage the studios to continue to ripp-off the creative people that are the real backbone of the business. I suppose you would suggest they fill-in with temporary actors if SAG goes on strike?

Using a temporary writer during a union-sanctioned strike is using a scab and hurts those striking. The point is, the writers should be getting a decent cut from DVD sales and Internet DLs of episodes.

It would be great to be a temporary writer for House but I guess it won’t be right for the WGA and you’ll probably be banned from WGA. I support the writers and I believe they should get a better pay for their work. At least Hugh would probably get a break and could go back to his family for a while when they are done producing these 6 episodes.

It’s thanks to whe writers that shows as great as House exist! They deserve a better pay for their work. This strike shows us the important role they have.
I totally support the strike, even if it means having to wait some months to see new chapters of House.

No, I would NOT want new writers. First for all reasons mentioned above, and second b/c the writers would not know the characters and therefore may right something totally wrong for that character. And then we would be ANGRY!!
I support the writers and I hope Hugh gets to go home for a while….JUST a while!
WE LOVE YOU, HUGH!!
